secondyearatYale.AsanMRes,thisMastersprogrammeprovidesanexcellentframeworktoadvance
students'researchskills,importantforthoseplanningafuturePhDorClinicalDoctorate.
Content
ObjectivesandOutcomes
Theprogrammeprovidesanintroductiontoarangeofperspectivesondevelopmentalpsychopathology,
coveringallmajordisordersofchildhood.Theabilitytocriticallyevaluatecurrentresearchandtheskills
neededtodesignandimplementresearchapproachesarecentraltothecourse,particularlyfMRIandEEG
neuroimagingtechniques.
Year1Teaching
InthefirstyearyouwillbeprimarilybasedattheAnnaFreudCentreinHampstead,Londonwithfull
accesstoUCLsinternationallyrenownedcampus,includinglibrariesandcomputerfacilities.Thefirst
yearmodulesprovideafoundationindevelopmentalpsychopathology,(whichincludesanintroductionto
themaintherapeuticorientationsusedwithchildrenandyoungpeople),neuroscienceresearchand
methodology,statisticsandpsychoanalytictheory.
Year2Teaching
TeachingduringYear2comprisesaseriesofformativeworkshopsthataimtosupportstudentsin
completingtheirindependentresearchprojectandengageproductivelyintheworkoftheresearchlabof
theirmentor/supervisor.
Theseworkshopsinclude:fMRImethodsEEGmethodsAdvancedResearchDesignandIntegrating
CrossDisciplinaryPerspectives.Electivesareofferedatpostgraduatelevels,rangingfromneuroscience,
philosophy,clinicalscience,researchmethodologyandstatistics.Westronglyencouragestudentsto
producepublishablefindingsfromtheirresearch,incollaborationwiththeirresearchmentor.
