CELTA Online (combined online and face-to-face)

The University of Worcester is offering the Cambridge CELTA Course Online as a blended-learning teacher training course that combines online CELTA training with face-toface components.
The input for this flexible 15-week course is conducted online, working through multimedia materials, doing interactive tasks, discussing topics with other course participants
and your tutor in forums and collaborating with other course participants in a virtual classroom. Teaching practice, feedback, supervised lesson planning and live observation
will require coming into the Language Centre.
The online CELTA is suitable for those who would prefer to study in their own time over a longer period and are able to attend the teaching practice sessions.
Who is it for?
The CELTA Online is ideal for anyone who:

would like to learn how to teach English to non-native speakers on a flexible basis
prefers to work and study online, or who is unable to attend normal classes at the school
has little or no teaching experience
would like to obtain an internationally recognised teaching qualification
is at least 18 years old and educated to higher education or university level
is competent in both written and spoken English (CEFR C1 minimum)

Entry requirements
Applicants must:

Be aged 18+
Have an education standard at least equivalent to that required for entry into higher education
Be a native or near-native* speaker of English

*CEFR C2 or high C1 - Cambridge Advanced Exam grade A or B. Documentary evidence will be required.

Assessment
You will be assessed throughout the course and there is no final examination. Your teaching practice, written assignments and portfolio will be assessed internally by the
University of Worcester CELTA trainers and moderated externally by a Cambridge English Language Assessment approved assessor.
To get the CELTA certificate, you must pass both the teaching practice assignments and the written assignments. There are three passing grades: Pass 'A', Pass 'B' and
Pass.

Progression
After two years of full-time teaching you can study for a DELTA qualification, enabling you to progress to more specialist and/or managerial roles.
In addition, CELTA is also the first phase of the Diploma in Teaching English (Literacy and ESOL) in the Lifelong Learning sector. This qualification is required by teachers
who wish to work in this sector in England and Wales.

How to apply
If you are interested in applying for the University of Worcester CELTA Online course, please download and complete the application form and email it to celta@worc.ac.uk. In
your email, please state that you are interested in the CELTA Online course. We will then get contact you as soon as possible.
The fees are 1500 including the 140 exam fee.

A deposit of 750 is payable by Friday 16 December 2016. This is a firm commitment for the course and refunds are not given once payment has been made.
Should you choose to pay in instalments, dates for payment are as follows: Friday 27 January 2017, Friday 24 February 2017, Friday 31 March 2017.
Certain tasks and aspects of the course may not be released online if payment has not been made.
You will receive an email/invoice once you have passed the interview stage and are happy to progress with the process of application.

Please note that all outstanding fees must be paid by 31st March 2017. Names of candidates who have failed to pay any outstanding fees by this date will not be
recommended for a CELTA qualification.
