Water Balance Tool

This tool is designed to assist land developers or their consultants undertake a preliminary estimate of a development's
drinking and non-drinking water demand. It is a simplified and updated version of the our previous Water Balance Tool.
To run it, simply save a copy to your hard drive. The tool consists of the following active tabs:

Input. Please enter the information about your proposed land development in the relevant yellow cells and leave other
cells blank. Numeric data should be entered as numbers only, i.e. 70 for 70% and 1450.5 for 1,450.5 m. Please note that
orange cells are calculated automatically but can be manually overwritten.

Assumptions. Assumptions are average figures, set by default for Perth metropolitan area. If you have more precise or
location specific figures, or would like to run the tool for a regional development, you can change the assumptions
manually. Such changes will be automatically flagged by a "Value changed!" note next to the value. If you change an
assumption, please ensure that the unit of measure (eg: kL/Person/year, no. of residents etc) remains consistent.

Water Balance Results. Drinking, non-drinking and total water demand is shown for each relevant use category
(Residential, Schools, Commercial and Industrial, Public Open Space and Miscellaneous). Potential supply from rainwater
and greywater recycling systems for residential non-drinking water use is also shown. Once the output table is populated,
use the "Click here to populate charts" button for visual representation of the output.
By downloading this tool, you accept the following conditions:
1. As the tool is unlocked, editing and formatting (other than overriding assumptions) may affect the tool functionality.
2. The tool is intended to be used for indicative purposes only and is not a substitute for professional advice.
