DESCRIPTION:
The Office of the University Registrar, in coordination with the Human Resource
Management Office, plans to hold a Re-Orientation Seminar with the theme: Empowering
Human Resources for a Better Implementation of Academic Policies towards a World-Class
University, on September, 2016 at Kanzo Hall, AVP or the Concourse Legazpi City for Main,
Daraga and East Campus and in the different Satellite Campuses.
As a learning institution, the University is bound to follow different external and internal
policies, which unfortunately only few personnel and faculty members fully understand and
appreciate. To address this gap, we propose a seminar-workshop specifically aimed at re-orienting
personnel and faculty member on the important rules/policies of the University, CHED and PRC.
It is incumbent for registrars to know the existing policies and its application to remain
efficient and effective with their function. Deans, Department Heads, and Faculty Members are also
expected to know the policies and developments pertaining to their respective programs. This
seminar aims to address the clamor that to better serve the students, both the registrars and the
academic members have to partner together in making sure that policies are properly implemented.
Moreover, this seminar hopes to avoid recurrence of previous incidents wherein some
department chairpersons erroneously applied existing crediting subject policies. Without
knowing it, CHED CMOs are violated, at the expense of students interest. Often, students only
become aware of their resulting deficiencies during fourth year or fifth year, especially when
subjects should not have been credited but was made so since faculty members who made the initial
crediting assessment have limited knowledge on proper crediting policies and procedures.
Specifically, it wishes to avoid situations where: 1. its students are deprived of graduation
due to faculty crediting, 2. The University from being sued for possible errors of academic policies
implementation, 3. Address lapses, gaps in the proper accomplishment/submission of the Report of
Grades via its Work instruction as noted by the ISO internal audits.
Proposed topics are the following:
1. Proper accomplishment of the controlled form for Report of grades, grading system
and submission of Report of Grades complying with the approved Work instruction
by the University Registrar or the VPAA or her staff;
2. Policy updates on Eligibility Requirements for Shifters, Transferees procedures,
forms and the Exercise of Discretion by the Dean of Admissions;
3. Policy Interpretation by Atty. Norly P. Reyes
4. CHED policy updates necessary in the implementation of curricular offerings,
crediting of subjects etc. by CHED RO V Director or Supervisor for the different
field of specialization specifically nominal crediting, pre-requisite rule,
overloading and vertical articulation;
5. PRC updates and policies by PRC Director.
OBJECTIVE:
The following are the objectives of the workshop:
1. To provide the necessary information regarding policies in existence, and updates related to
Academic policies of the University, CHED and PRC on crediting and accepting shifters and
transferees;
2. To bridge the gap in the implementation of policies in the University which affects the
students and the University;
3. To clear the gray areas in policy implementation - Legal Aspects in Academic Policies.
