Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
Last week we started with the importance of
realizing that the government and administration of
that government is the responsibility of the Church.
Currently we have not understood the impact but as
time evolves toward the millennial reign we will step
into our role. The devil is trying to supplant the
authority of God by infusing the idealism that we are
now in control, when in fact it is not our rebellion. This
is a rebellion against God, by Lucifer, we are choosing
sides, from Adam’s choice of independence, it now
becomes a battle for the soul of man. We have to
choose dependence, it doesn’t come naturally. It can
only come spiritually.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
Last week we began our message on the
independent choice of what part of God’s
word or God’s way we will choose. A cultural
catastrophe has occurred in that we now think
that we can rationalize and choose for
ourselves what we will give or do in regards to
sacrifice. The term sacrifice has been
synthesized into our culture. We have now
become the guardians of those choices. In
assuming that role we become independent.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
I have a choice to make concerning this local
assembly. Jesus said “Blessed are the
peacemakers”, the inference is that peacemakers
are those who know that trouble will come, it is
handling these situations by and with the Word
of God. What has happened is we now are
“peacekeepers”, we don’t want to disturb anyone
with confrontation. The proverbial
misappropriated verse that says, “ Working out
our own salvation” has become the powerless
accolade of our generation.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
We now have spiritual vagabonds running from
church to church. Many of those in this category even
have anointing in their lives. I have learned much in
this area. First of all the anointing of God is not the
approval of God. Let me tell you that God is more
interested in your character than He is your anointing.
Saul prophesied, yet was rejected. Caiaphas
prophesied while his only purpose was to kill Jesus.
Balaam prophesied both truth and the future events,
yet he died the death of a soothsayer. I believe every
anointing needs to sit under a man of character to
serve and or learn before he steps into his or her
anointing.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
• Secondly, when we speak of David, we
speak of a man who knew God, and his
anointing was beyond my comprehension. Yet
when he wasn’t doing or being what God had
called him to be, he brought great distress.
When we forfeit our position, we forfeit our
authority. When he sinned with Bathsheba, he
was called to repentance and in fact did
repent.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
• However listen to this, Nathans words to David,
• 14Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given
great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to
blaspheme,
• David was forgiven but he put those at risk
around him. Bathsheba’s child dies, Amnon rapes
his half-sister, Tamar, Absalom kills Amnon, then
rebels against his father with a mighty force,
Absalom then dies, and David grieves.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
. 1Now there was long war between the house of
Saul and the house of David: but David waxed
stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul
waxed weaker and weaker.
To the fathers I will say if you open the door to
the devil in your family he will come in.
To the mothers I would say, be very careful about
assuming the spiritual headship of your family,
there is a trap there just waiting to be sprung.
Pray and move your husband to his place.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
• There is a reason the Word of God speaks
concerning counsel and wisdom from those who
have been in this journey. It is because we have
made mistakes that we don’t want you to make. I
am bound and determined to expose the shallow
nature of this generation in being so self
absorbed. I don’t think that you can leave here
and go somewhere else without me releasing
you, no matter what you have conceived in your
own mind, I need to bless you so that you can
prosper where and when God sends you.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8

• The reason the house of Saul failed was in his

refusal to obey. He chose sacrifice. We see
people getting weaker and weaker, not
because they aren’t called or chosen. They
even have gifts, but because they want to do
things their way.
• You see we can stop this right now, if we don’t
as you will see it will take it’s natural
progression.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 7
“The Glory”
• 1 Samuel 13
• Jonathan, Saul’s son made a raid on the
garrison of the Philistines. The Philistines
became afraid, then Saul blows the trumpet,
and says,”Let all the Hebrews hear”, Saul has
smitten a garrison of Philistines , and everyone
should gather to him at Gilgal.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 7
• Why would Saul have to take the glory of
the battle, he was already king. Why did he
need the affirmation. The people were now
afraid because the Philistines were riled up.
Here is where Saul makes a grave error. He has
already assumed king, prophet role, but now
he enters the territory of the priest. He offers
sacrifices instead of waiting on Samuel. Saul
said, “ I forced myself” , the people were
scattered and I needed to unite them????
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
• You can see the nature of this seed, we have
to ask ourselves, “Why were the people
scattered”?, It was because the point of unity
in any spiritual battle can’t be a man. God and
the offering unto God is what attracts His
presence. He alone can unify and bring victory
over the enemies. Saul needed to receive the
glory to substantiate who he was. In his own
eyes and in the eyes of the people.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
• It even gets crazier, we have to be careful not to keep
people bound, victimized, and crippled for our needs. Saul
then makes a crazy vow, it wasn’t from God, it wasn’t for
the good of the people, it was to substantiate his power. He
was trying to establish himself as being needed. When
Jonathan, in normal pathology says “Hey this isn’t right, he
is asking us to do something crazy” Saul even tries to
condemn his own son. If the people had not intervened
Saul may have killed his own son.
• Saul begins to assume the role as the savior of the people.
He forces himself to sacrifice and now he is protecting
them through a foolish vow. You can now see that
witchcraft has began to show itself in the actions of Saul.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
• If I could analyze Saul today I would say that he
suffered from insecurity. Insecurity is defined as
anxiety when you feel vulnerable or insecure. It is also
lack of self confidence. Lacking stability, troubled,
lacking protection
• Fear and doubt lead to insecurity, guarded jealousy
• We believe that we are the one’s responsible for the
outcome of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
• This is the root of this second
warning
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
• In order to understand insecurity, we must examine
what it means to be “secure”. The etymology of the
word secure means to “ be free from secret care”
• We are born into this world totally dependant upon
someone to take care of us. As we move into
adolescence we are driven by who is going to take care
of us. In a woman’s world, and in a man’s world. All of
the fear and doubt which we measure success or
power, the secret jealousy of not achieving. The
measure of this system. How we were raised, our
failures
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
• I can’t read your minds, but this uncertainty of our natural
life has been exchanged for security in the spiritual realm.
• There is only one way to root this out of us!
• 5Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who
are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility
toward one another, because,
"God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble."[a] 6Humble yourselves,
therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you
up in due time. 7Cast all your anxiety on him because he
cares for you.
• 8Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls
around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
• 1Whatcauses fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come
from your desires that battle within you? 2You want something but
don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want.
You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God.
3When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong
motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. 4You
adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is
hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the
world becomes an enemy of God. 5Or do you think Scripture says
without reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies
intensely?[a] 6But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
"God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble."[b]
• 7Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee
from you.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
• You will note that both sections of scripture
used concerning humility or being humble
acknowledge a warning concerning the devil.
• You will be devoured and eaten up on the
inside by refusal to be admonished. To be
double minded is to be miserable……
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
• Humility in my terms is a spiritual and social
acknowledged claim to the neutrality
concerning the competition of life.
• Humility is to acknowledge my place and
accept my calling in life and in ministry.
• Humility is to let go of that which I think are
mine and surrender them to the care of God,
knowing that promotion cometh not from the
east or the west but from the Lord.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
• Humility is me not taking up for myself but
committing my enemies and gainsayers to His
care.
• Humility is not receiving praise and place given by
others but keeping in check who gets the glory
• If we are not willing to start at the root, then the
natural evolution will only be sermons that
render head knowledge and not heart change.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
• We can stop this progression in our lives at
this point. It is a matter of surrendering the
Lordship of our lives unto Jesus.
• If we continue on in this path the evolution of
this spirit brings destruction.
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
Presumption
• 17AndSamuel said, When thou wast little in thine
own sight, wast thou not made the head of the
tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king
over Israel?
• 18And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said,
Go and utterly destroy the sinners the
Amalekites, and fight against them until they be
consumed.
• 19Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice
of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and
didst evil in the sight of the LORD?
Cultural Catastrophe Part 8
• 20AndSaul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the
voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the
LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of
Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
• 21But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the
chief of the things which should have been utterly
destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal.
• 22And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in
burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice
of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
and to hearken than the fat of rams.
• 23For
rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and
stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because
thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath
also rejected thee from being king.
• What is stubbornness, it is the refusal to listen to
someone else, believing that your way, idea, and
opinion is better. You don’t just get here, you
move here based on your autonomy. It becomes
idolatry in the sense that you worship your view.
• I can flat out show people in the Word of God
what it says and they will still do what they want !
