Question 1

Are you surprised that oil-rig workers would buy into a program like this
In my opinion, I am surprised that oil-rig workers would buy into a program like this. Their job
is classified as 3d which is dangerous, difficult and dirty. Working in the middle of the sea,
their mental condition might be unstable. They might not have the time to refer to a sheet
each time they are communicating with their colleagues. Life on an oil-rig is highly volatile.
Staffs need to communicate effectively and specifically. There are chances that these colour
codes might lead to miscommunication between staffs.
On the other hand, lets say if this initiate makes it down to few years where it is much more
stabilized. Workers would have memorized the colour codes by their heart. Superiors could
assign tasks and communicate much more effectively based on the colour codes on the hat.

Question 2
How valid do you think color-coded personality ratings are?
Personally, I believe the color-coded personality ratings are not so valid. This is because,
classifying staffs based on a certain test developed by a particular company might not be
applicable to the environment the workers are in. Possibilities are there, the employee might
be wrongly classified into a category. And chances are there one sided favours are made.
Staffs might be answering the personality tests based on pleasing the organization or by
what is socially acceptable, which discredits the test. There could be a lack of diversity in the
workforce if all employees have the same traits

Question 3
Do you think having employees, wear their personalities on their hats is a personal
intrusion? Is it unethical?
I dont believe that by having employees wearing their personality hats it is a personal
intrusion. This is because the employees are not required by law to do it. It is based on their
voluntary intention.
In my personal opinion, by wearing this personality hat, the staff might be subjected to a
percentage of stereotyping. Staffs might start categorizing each other based on the colour
codes on the head. This categorization might lead to negative perception by some. And this
might lead to grouping of staffs. Some would say this personality coding is unethical.
But looking at a bigger picture, it will be beneficial for the whole organization as it could
increase productivity and decrease misunderstandings or conflicts. Each staffs knows how to
communicate effectively with each other.

Question 4
Transoceans CEO supports the program but says, I can be whatever color I want to
be. Do you agree with him. Explain.

I believe the initial test could be rigged. He could say anything during the personality coding
test, so that he could have any personality colour he wishes to have which could give him
the upper hand. But as a CEO , he should be flexible enough that he could suit with any
colours that his employees exhibit. And by being any colour that he wishes to be, he could
blend in with his staffs. Those of his staffs who are red in colour which means driven
personality, the CEO could provide proper challenges for these employees and reward them
accordingly. For those yellow coloured which means emotional and talkative, the CEO could
be much friendlier to create a bond between them.
