Course Overview

This short hands-on course will cover practical

guidelines on the efficient and effective use of
single file systems, when to use them and how
to use them.

Learning Outcomes:
To consider the role of instrumentation in
root canal treatment.
To be aware of the range of modern root
canal treatments.

To understand the history, development and

integration of rotary NiTi instrumentation.

To introduce reciprocation using WaveOne Gold.

To understand the indications for reciprocating files.

To demonstrate canal preparation with
reciprocating files.

To appreciate the differences between

WaveOne Gold and other rotary NiTi systems.

Dr Patrick Cleary

BDentSc, MSD, FICD, FACD, FFDRCSI

Pat graduated from Trinity College

Dublin in 1981 with a BDentSc.

Following a term as House Surgeon

in the Dublin Dental Hospital,
he practised in Portlaoise and
then in England. He undertook
postgraduate studies at Indiana University School
of Dentistry from 1984 to 1986 and was awarded a
certificate and masters degree in endodontics.
On returning to Ireland in 1986 he set up his practice
limited to endodontics in Booterstown, which he
maintains to the present day.
He was President of the IDA in 2003 and has
presented at numerous meetings in Ireland
and Europe.
