Epilogue

So the naked and unarmed Dopadi becomes more powerful than the armed
Senanayak!
Friends, Ill spare myself talking about the nearly twenty thousand killings
done over a span of twenty years (from 1990 to 2010) in the naxal -affected
areas of India.
Ill not bother you about the fake encounters of the tribal people done with
pure impunity by the State sponsored Army and Police.
Ill not remind you of the one thousand five hundred twenty eight (1528)
extra-judicial murders done by AFSPA in Manipur alone.
Ill also not trouble you by recollecting here the name of Irom Sharmila, the
40 years old Manipuri lady, who has wasted her youthful 16 years in fasting
so that the deaf and dumb government can repeal the AFSPA from her homestate.
I know that if I talk about all these unfortunate things, I would be interrupted
in between in the name of National Security and Integrity.
But my dear sensible friends, can Rape, the brutal dehumanizing weapon
both in the hands of patriarchy and the all- benevolent- State, be justified in
any way?
The data of National Crime Records Bureau reveal that in 2015 alone 34,651
cases of rapes, 2113 cases of gang-rapes, and 84,222 cases of sexual
offences against women have been registered. This is only the tip of the
iceberg as the rule of the thumb is that only 10% cases of such nature are
ever reported. The condition becomes more gruesome and horrific when
women in the disturbed areas are raped with pure impunity by the same
police and army who have been deployed there for their safety and security.
But ironically enough there are no official data on such rapes. We have only
instances; instances which have been documented by Human Rights Watch,
International Amnesty, and other NGOs. Some of such horrific instances are
here for your short term memory
1. In Kunan Poshpora, a small village in Kashmir, soldiers of 4th Rajputana
Rifles allegedly raped about 30 women on the night of February 23rd,
1991.

2. The data given by the Human Rights Watch reveal that every woman
among ten is sexually abused by security forces.
3. On the night of 10th July, 2004 in Manipur, a young woman Thangjam
Manorama was picked up by the jawans of Assam Rifles on the suspicion
of being a militant. She was brutally gang-raped and when her body was
recovered there were about 20 bullets in here body including her genital
parts. The incident sparked protests across Manipur. A group of twelve
Manipuri women aged about 40 years stripped themselves naked in front
of the Army Headquarters in Imphal. They had banners in their hands
saying, Indian Army Rape Us.
The files are full of such incidents and ironically, in almost all of the cases,
no justice has been done till now.
Dear learned friends, the choice is yours whether you want to follow
Senanayak, the pseudo-intellectual, the sycophant of the authority, the man
who is perfect in the art of changing colours with the tides of time, the man
who dares not to question the wrong for his personal selfish ends;
or you want to be the real intellectual who dares think, say, and act nothing
but the TRUTH.
Remember, that the world is full of Senanayaks and if you want to give
respect to your self, your conscience, your learning, choose the second
option otherwise there is no dearth of Senanayaks.
Think, think, think and then choose
