Chapter I
Introduction
Is managerial communication in affecting to job satisfaction? Is the job satisfaction
affecting employee to commit in an organization?
Toshiba and Enron is the example of communication problem. Both of them has a similar
problem. It caused by their management that want to high profit in a way giving pressure to
their subordinate. Pressure is one of the bad communication that managers communicate to
their subordinate in a way forcing. So, the communication can give a big effect to the
company, even until make the company collapse.
Communication is one of the needs people to run their life. Human are social person, where
humans have dependence with other people, always communicates in regulating and organize
his life. There is no human who are not to get involved in communication (Muhammad,
2005: 1). By communication, activity derived from both individuals and groups would have
run, whether it will be run with good or not. Communication will help organization run that
was said by George R. Terry Communication like lubricating oil who can give smooth
activity organization in achieving the purpose (Mohyi, 1999: 111).
Important aspect of the communication of the organization are potentials of the
communication of itself as a tool (tool) that can be designed management to achieve their
goal organization. The importance of communication is also apparent from the benefits for
the organization covering control function (control and supervision), motivation, the
disclosure of emotional and to provide information for a decision making (Robbins, 2001:
312).
In the organizations, communication is one of the activity to hold the relationship between
manager and subordinate. Therefore, its important communication that purpose and the
message was acceptable in conformity with the wish dispatch. According to Pincus (1986),
communication upward, communication horizontal and communication downward had links
a strong positive with satisfaction work. In an organization, communication upward required
camps for that the bottom help you make decisions and design organization. The subordinate
could also help managers to resolve the conflict organizations and make the right decisions in
carrying out their jobs organization. Communication downward also required by the
subordinate that well informed and right about duty to undertake the task organization
successfully.

payment appropriate, organization and management, the managers and relations with
colleagues.
Sopiah (2008) said that the commitment of organizational (organizational commitment) is the
level of confidence employees to receive organizational goals so desirous to stay and become
part of the organisation is. Employees who committed tend to be more responsible for
providing service (Ping et al., 2012). Studies research shows that people are relatively
satisfied with his work will be more committed to organization (Mathis and Jackson, 2011).
Huang and Hsiao in (2007) said to there are positive significant relation between satisfactions
with the commitment of work organization. An employee will have the high commitment
organization when they are satisfied with the work, managers, salary, promotion and
colleague (Harrison and Hubbard, 1998). According to Dessler (2004) the program the
quality is very much depend on employees who is trained and committed high that it is
difficult to separate the two of them.
(Hallowell et al. (1996), Malhotra and Mukherjee (2004) and Hella (2011) once did research
on job satisfaction and commitment .Who said that job satisfaction and commitment had a
positive relation. But some company has high job satisfaction but, has the low commitments.
Hence, I have question is the job satisfaction affecting employee to commit in an
organization?

Finding and Opinion
3.1 Finding
In finding, actually I try find my question based on interview and internet. From interview I
ask the question to the person that already work in a company and internship in a company.
Indeed, i just get some information data from interview. To make the information stronger I
try to find my question in internet that quite enough to answer my question.
My interviewee are from my friends that already work in a company and intern in a company.
Because of my friends only some person that already work. So, I just get three person to
interview. The first person that i interview is Theodorus Caniggia B.acc that working at
PB&Co Taxand (Taxand Indonesia). He is positioned as Tax Advisory, also he already intern
14 weeks and he offered to be permanent employee. The second person that i interview is
Fransisca Olivia B.acc that working PT Astra International, Tbk. She is positioned as Internal
Audit, also she already intern many places such as Price Waterhouse Coopers and Chevron.
Because of she get schoolarship at PT Astra International, Tbk. So she get offered to be
pemannt employee in that company. The last person that i interview is Defri Kurniawan B.acc
that intern at KAP Hendrawinata, Eddhy & Siddharta (Kreston Internasional). Eventhough he
as an intern, he has a big experience in company.
3.1.1 Finding on managerial communiation in affecting to job satisfaction
According to Theodorus Caniggia B.acc, Communication can affecting to job satisfaction ,
because communication is the main tools in order to delivers the vision and mission of the
company and reach the goals. By maintain good communication, the superior can give the
command clearly to the staff, so they can made a good teamwork.
According to Fransisca Olivia B.acc, also agree if communication can affecting to job
satisfaction, The people will feel satisfaction on their job if their environment also support
them. Then, with the good communication, people will feel lauded and happy to work. If
their communication is bad, people will work under pressure and not enjoy on their work,
also they will not satisfaction on their work
According to Defri Kurniawan B.acc, Good communication prevent misunderstanding
between employees which usually lead to job satisfaction. For example manager and his
staff.

3.2 Opinion
In my opinion communication, job satisfaction and job commitment is daily life of employee.
They are always face it in working hour. Communication is really important to people,
organization also need communication to run their business. Also as I get information above,
communication really have a relation to job satisfaction. All of them agree that
communication will refine objective of managers and subordinate. Also, the company that I
interview is has a good communication with their other employee in company means that
many company already implement a good communication. Confidences of fieldwork also
support the employee to make employee satisfaction. If the employee feel satisfaction they
feel happy and lauded to work in a company. I think good communication is a must for
employee, even though a good communication is hard to implement, the employee have to
have skill good communication. Also in a company there must be a training that related with
communication to make employee to prevent misunderstanding.
I think job satisfaction will effect on commitment in working. But, in a real life job
satisfaction will not affected on commitment. The reason is variation, there are come from
salary, high pressure, high target and others. Indeed, accounting division is a challenging
division because they are facing with the stability of company. I think the most reason
employee turnover is salary. If Im positioned as an employee, then there are some company
offer me higher salary, automatically I will accept that and resign from present company.
There are some proverb stated that money is everything. I am not agree with that proverb I
more likely money is important but money is not my first priority. My last opinion is actually
is depend on personal. The company who has a good communication but the person is
doesnt want to communicate in a good way, means the person is useless. Also, if the person
has a vision to make the company achieve their goals, the person will not affected anything
offered from other company.
CHAPTER IV
CONCLUSION
In this era, communication is an important aspect of the organization that the communication
of itself as a tool (tool) that can be designed management to achieve their goal organization.
The importance of communication is also apparent from the benefits for the organization
covering control function (control and supervision), motivation, the disclosure of emotional
and to provide information for a decision making (Robbins, 2001: 312).
Based on finding, relation between managerial communication and job satisfaction is really
related. According to Theodorus Caniggia B.acc, Communication can affecting to job
satisfaction, because communication is the main tools in order to delivers the vision and
mission of the company and reach the goals. By maintain good communication, the superior
can give the command clearly to the staff, so they can made a good teamwork. It clearly
stated that communication as important tool company to achieve their goals. But, is it make
the employee feel want to stay in a long term or we can called as job commit.
Many researcher said that job satisfaction is not a guarantee of employee to commit in a
company. According to the report of the Talent of the 2014 Trend launched by LinkedIn,
professional networking on the internet, revealed some of the reasons that encourage
professionals to move work. They are among others seeking compensation and fringe benefits
of a better job, the job is more challenging, the balance between professional and personal
life, as well as a chance to boost his or her career.
So, as I conclude that managerial communication can affect job satisfaction wheatear the
communication are bad or good. Communication will deliver company desire to achieve their
goal or communication also can make a decision making. But, in other way job satisfaction
not affecting employee to commit in a company. Based on research, people will always
seeking better career and more challenging.
