NON-FICTION ANALYSIS

1. Overall, there can be a lot of different views on the importance of the Latino immigration in the US.
Some believe that immigration is rapidly falling but some say it is going the other opposite direction.
The first article explains the situation of the 4th wave of immigrants as being in reverse, as more and
more Mexicans are leaving the US. More than 1 million immigrants from Mexico moved back to their
country in the span of 2009-2014, according to the pew study. Shockingly is the reason for why, some
Mexicans are moving back, Jos Arellano Correa, a 41-year-old Mexico City taxi driver says I could
help them while I was there, but family comes before money The Mexicans are said to steal the
American dream from the righteous people by stealing jobs, but this reason of the importance of
family was not the explanation that was expected. The pull factor of the US is not as strong anymore
because the jobs for the immigrants are getting more and more scarce.

The information stated by the PEW study are shown to be misleading, the studies that had been used
to show the numbers of migration made by Mexicans in the US were old, the newest records were the
whole year of 2014. Just after Obamas amnesty programs in 2015 the immigration boom again as
Obama created the perfect opportunity for illegal immigrants. The program made deportation of
immigrants, illegal. The intention thats being created is made to think badly of Obamas actions on the
immigrants, and to create a clear signal for the new president of what not to do. The language also
refers to the study that is made by PEW of being unreliable and tricky.

The 3rd. article by Nigel Duara and Cindy Carcamo about the Push and pull factors. The American
dream for the immigrants, is getting more difficult to acquire, the stakes are getting too high. The jobs
for immigrants are getting scarce. The whole trip of leaving their own country for only a chance for a
mediocre job isnt enough anymore. There isn't much work because the economy there is still bad,
The pull factor of Mexico isnt getting stronger, but is now sufficient for the Mexicans to stay.

2. Daniel Horowitz takes great use of the appeal form logos; the author sees the PEW study as an old and
a false way of convincing that the immigration from Mexico is reverting. Daniel Horowitz appears to

be very confident in his words, and makes it sound like his facts are true, he contradicts the pews
statistic and proves that the survey is out of date by showing never statistic and proves that the
immigration from Mexico is not reverting.
The author uses different varieties of numbers to guide the reader towards his intention that states the
pew study to be false and the big spike of immigration from the Mexicans after Obama's amnesty
program. The use of number and data in order to persuade the reader , means that the author applies
the use appeals to logos. we see the use of numbers in page 2 line 17-18 From 2009-2014, net
migration was -140,000. Because of the recession, roughly 140,000 more Mexican nationals left the
country than migrated in from Mexico. Daniel Howitz uses these numbers to achieve the trust of the
reader to believe what he has written.
Daniel Horowitz is very confident in his words, he use of words as, Appallingly, Dishonest, and
calling illegal immigrants for aliens, makes the reader shocked. Harshness is not a thing that seen very
often in that way in an article, which makes it more credible.

3.

Taking your starting point in text three, discuss whether you think Latino immigration to the
US is a problem, and discuss what you think about Donald Trumps rhetoric on Latino
immigration.

The Latino immigration problem can be seen as a very sensitive problem. Nigel Duara and Cindy
Carcamo chooses to state The point of this report and the way it'll be used is there's no more
concern about the border, Republicans are idiots and the issue has faded, this The problem of
immigration is more a republican problem. They seem to portrait the immigrants as the scapegoat
of the problem, the high rise of drugs, prostitution, unemployment and gang violence. The pull
factor of America is turning to a push factor as the immigrants are getting target of the problem
around the us. The fact that some people are seeking a better life, is something that i can
understand, they work in all different kinds of lowpaying jobs which they still attend. The
Mexicans are never to get the appreciation they need as they continually are working jobs that no
one will, of being a big part of building America. Keeping the American dream alive, for the
others.
