METHODOLOGY

The Diagnostic Study Report has been prepared in a step-by-step process


as given below:
For preparation of the Study Report the following methodology was
followed:
a) Collection of primary data (through interviews) Several tools like
FGDs stakeholder's consultation meeting, Key informant interview.
b) Collection of Secondary Data (Journals, Research papers, Census
figures, Tourism Dept. data, Govt. publications, web search)
c) Data Compilation and Analysis
d) Preparation of Draft Report (with stakeholder concurrence)

Sources of Primary Data Collection


The Primary data has been collected from the following stakeholders in
the tourism set-up:
Officials / Staff of hotels and other boarding and lodging facilities like
houseboats, huts, etc.
Visiting tourists in the vicinity both domestic and foreign
Prospective tourists
Local inhabitants/ Shopkeepers / Tourist Guides
Artisans, Craftsmen
Travel Agents / Tour Operators
Other related agencies and persons
2. Collection of Secondary Data:

The secondary data was collected through various sources. Tourism


related and other relevant Government Institutions and departments like
Department of Tourism, Department of planning, Educational institutions,
Research papers, MSMEs in related sectors like handicrafts, dry fruits &
nuts, walnut furniture, Saffron etc. were also approached. Some data was
also collected through related web sites and reports available in the public
domain. This information was validated and updated in consultation with
the relevant stakeholders. However, the ongoing initiatives and schemes
have been mentioned.

We also reviewed the existing secondary data sources relating to

3. Data Compilation & Analysis:

The primary and secondary data collected will be used and compiled as a
comprehensive analysis in understanding the current status of the
Srinagar, stakeholders in the area, their status and key issues.
4. Preparation of Draft Report:

Based on the compiled data and analysis, this draft report will be prepared
as per the specification given in master plan. The report covers the data
of the major assets of Srinagar, its current status and how to use these
assets for development of Srinagar.
