The Format Tab

Recovery Manager Format is an application designed for initializing the digital media to the factory default condition.
Unlike operating systems format, this format utility will actually do the low-level format so that it is guaranteed to work with
Digital Media device(s) like Digital Camera or Digital Camcorder etc. By doing format it erases the blocks and then puts
the File System data instead of just writing zeroes in the media.
There are two options available in the format utility as quick & full format.

Figure 7 (Format page of Recovery Manager in Windows)

Quick Format
This option will just erase all the data contents in the media. In this option it will not recover any bad blocks from the
media. Quick Format also checks to see if the number of bad blocks in the media is within the allowed limit. A large
number of bad blocks usually indicate worn out media.
Full Format
By doing Full format the entire media will be fully wiped out. This option will recover any bad block(s) from the media. This
will take longer time to finish when compared to Quick Format but will recover some of the defect blocks caused on the
media, such as writing to a media while the Digital Camera power is insufficient.
