The various calculations for my Ecological Footprints are as follows:

1. Ecological Footprint 5 years back regenerative capacity of 0.7 planets each

year
2. Ecological Footprint at present regenerative capacity of 0.7 planets each
year
3. Ecological Footprint 5 years into the future regenerative capacity of 1.2
planets each year
What do all these numbers mean to you
These numbers give me an indication of my usage, in the past, present
and the aspiring future, of the various resources of nature which my daily,
weekly or yearly activities account for.
In the past, I was working as a Business Development professional and
travelling frequently. In the present, I am studying and the major contributor
towards my footprint is my flight travel as it takes into account the data for
entire year. Five years into the future, I will be married and will be travelling by a
car. The assumptions are based taking into consideration the consumption which
may be incurred by me and my wife.
Though my past and the present habits are on the lower side of the
footprints, they are better than the general average mentioned. I can still
contribute more towards the conservation of the natural resources by consuming
less electricity and other possible means. In the future, the public transport,
usage of electricity, consumption of various items and the other related aspects
should be controlled to bring the projected footprint down. All this means that
whatever lifestyle I may live, there is some or the other implications on the
nature.
How does your aspirations influence humanity and the planet at large?
My aspirations influences humanity as the resources which may be used in
order to support my future lifestyle will be further denting the limited resources
we have at our disposal. Humanity may suffer if each person carries the same
lifestyle as the natural resources may get exhausted in the near future making
survival a tough job for the mankind. The planet may not be able to regenerate
things as quickly as we may be consuming the resources too quick. Thus, in
order to contribute towards the conservation of nature, I should do my bit for the
greater good of humanity as a whole.
Do governments and business leaders track ecological footprints? and
why?
The government and business leaders do track the ecological footprints as
they are concerned about the humanity and the future of earth at large. The
problems like greenhouse effect and global warming has put all of us in danger.
The rising sea levels, deforestation, degrading quality of air, natural disasters are
the major issues being faced by the human race and the entire earth.
By tracking these footprints, the governments and business leaders try to
control things which are in their capacity. The leaders ask their organizations to
save and conserve the maximum resources possible. Similarly, the governments
create a few rules which may help conserve nature. For example, the Indian
government has asked all the power plants in India to reduce their emission to
1/3rd of the present value. Such initiatives are well appreciated and are the need

of the hour. Also, it requires the support of entire human race in order to sustain
our planet.
