The Ateneo Community Cat Program

Objective/ Outcome
The Ateneo Community Cat Program (ACCaP) is a
University-wide initiative that seeks to equally
promote human health and safety as well as animal
welfare through the humane management of the cat
population of the campus.

Activities
1. Inform and Educate the Community to ensure no contact with cat
population
Develop awareness campaign materials: posters, banners, online campaign
Collaboration with orgs - Animal welfare Week c/o LS Bio & Ateneo Bio Org
(BOx) and other student partners (AGILA, Cats of Ateneo)

2. Monitoring Cat population (Cat census and tagging)

3. Setting up of Feeding Sites and Feeding Program for the cats
Ensure coordination with school cafeterias for hygienic food areas
Promote proper waste management for collection of food scraps

4. Trap-Neuter-Return with PAWS

5. Cat Adoption Program

Neutered and vaccinated cats have a notch in their right ear.

Please report un-vaccinated cats to the Office for Student Services!

1. Gently, but firmly, shoo away the cats from

your areas.
2. Avoid touching, cuddling, and feeding the
cats.
3. Practice CLAYGO at all times!

DO NOT FEED THE CATS

Cats usually stay in places where
food is available to them.
That is why when you feed one stray
cat, others will most likely stay in
the area where you gave them food.
Well-fed cats have a tendency to
reproduce more often
Thus, a cat colony starts which
makes it then harder to control
their population.

DO NOT TOUCH OR PET

THE CATS
Cats may be cute but if its feral, they
might harm you by biting or
scratching because they are unused
to human contact.
Getting a cat used to human contact
makes them lose their natural
defense mechanism thus making
them more susceptible to humans
who may treat them with cruelty

Promote the Trap-Neuter-Return (T-N-R)

This is the permanent long term solution where
no young would replace the old cats
Remove the source of food of the cats in the campus
Dont feed the cats
Properly dispose your leftovers
Proper garbage collection
There will be a particular place where the cats will be fed
The cats would then stay at that place
In that particular place the cat will be trapped
Non-harmful traps would be made to catch cats
The captured cats would then be transported to a clinic
The captured cats would be spayed (female) or neutered
(male)
Note that this is not harmful to cats
The cats would then be marked in their ear and would be
then returned back to Ateneo
