COMPARATIVOS E SUPERLATIVOS EM INGLS

Para falar sobre adjetivos comparativos e superlativos em ingls

preciso saber algumas regrinhas. Parece fcil, mas quando estiver
estudando ingls preciso praticar, seno o perigo dizer algo bem
errado. Vamos as regras?

Quando o adjetivos tem apenas uma slaba:

Acrescente- ER no final da palavra para comparativos e -EST para

superlativos.
EXEMPLOS:

Como usamos o comparativo entre duas coisas preciso usar

o THAN depois do adjetivo, e no superlativo usamos o
artigo THE antes do adjetivo:
John is taller than George.
Jonh is the tallest of all the students.

Nota: Quando o adjetivo de uma nica slaba mas termina

em E, se acrescenta somente o -R no final para comparativos
e -ST para superlativos

Exemplo:
Large-larger-largest
Wise-wiser-wisest
Garry's car is larger than Mario's car.
Peter is the wisest person I know.

Ainda: Quando o adjetivo de uma unica slaba termina com

uma consoante que foi seguida de uma vogal, ento
preciso dobrar a consoante antes de acrescentar ERou EST

Exemplo:
Big-Bigger-Biggest
Thin-Thinner-Thinnest
Fat-Fatter-Fattest

Quando o adjetivo tem 2 slabas ou mais

Nesse caso de acrescenta MORE antes do adjetivo para usar como

comparativo e THE MOST como superlativo

Nota: Se um adjetivo de duas slabas ou mais termina em Y,

dai na forma comparativa substitui o Y por I e acrescenta ER e
na forma superlativa substitui o Y por I e acrescenta-EST

Busy-busier-busiest

Ainda: Se um adjetivo de duas slabas ou mais termina er,

-le, ow ento acrescenta-se somente ER para comparativos
e EST para superlativos.

Esses adjetivos abaixo tambm so excees, pois esses adjetivos de
duas slabas podem ter a forma de ER e EST ou simplesmente
usar MORE e THE MOST:
Clever, gentle, friendly, quiet, simple
Big dogs are gentler than small dogs.
Of all the dogs in the world, English Mastiffs are the gentlest.
Ou ainda:
Big dogs are more gentle than small dogs.
Of all the dogs in the world, English Mastiffs are the most gentle.
