WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Report of the Philadelphia Grand Jury - 2005

This document is the sixth report on the Catholic abuse crisis by a grand jury or attorney general, and it is
the longest and most detailed effort so far. The report should be read by every Catholic, and indeed every
U.S. citizen. We have posted the report below in such a way that sections may be downloaded easily. Our
table also allows you to read across and access the report's various data about each priest. News and
comment, links to other grand jury reports, selected documents included in the Philadelphia report, and a
more traditional table of contents for the Philadelphia report are presented after the table.

never investigated by
the archdiocese until
the grand jury itself
began its investigation

Case Study: At several

parishes, Smith staged
sadistic passion plays

minors, Cardinal
Bevilacqua permitted
him to live in the parish
rectory, to celebrate
Mass with altar boys, to
hear confessions, and
to counsel parishioners
and others through
Catholic Human
Services."

Case Study:
Wisniewski "continued
acting as a priest for
six years after he
admitted [in 1992]
sexually abusing a
minor" - an important
case because it offers
detailed descriptions of
Bevilacqua's abuse
policies and their
emphasis on "legal
ramifications"
