Abstract

Brain Gate System is the mind to movement system and allows quadriplegic man to
control a computer by using only his thoughts is a scientific milestone. The Brain System is
based on cyber kinetics platform technology to sense, transmit, analyze and apply the language
of neurons. Brain Gate is an brain implant system which is developed by the bio-tech company
Cyber kinetics in 2003 in conjunction with the Department of Neuroscience at Brown University.
This device was designed to help those who have lost the control of their limbs, or other bodily
functions, such as patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or spinal cord injury. This
computer chip, which is implanted into the patient and converts the intention of the user into
computer commands.
The brain is "Hand wired" with the connections, which are made by billions of neurons
that makes electricity whenever they are simulated. This electric patterns are called brain waves.
In that Neurons acts like the wire and gates in a computer, and it gathers the information and
transmitting the electrochemical signals over as distance as far. Motor neurons carry signals from
the central nervous system to the muscles, skin and glands of the body, while sensory neurons
carry signals from those outer parts of the body to the central nervous system.
The system is to help those who have lost control of their limbs, or other bodily
functions, such as patients with spinal cord injury to operate various gadgets such as TV,
computer ,lights, fan etc.It monitors brain activity in the patient and converts the intention of the
user into computer commands. This can be used to control a robot arm or a cursor on a screen
