Learning Experiences:

g:
1. Introduction:

(How will I engage the learners?)

Introduce the students to Bouncing Baby Bear (BBB). I will explain

to the students that BBB has :
Good and Bad days
Sometimes feels happy and sometimes he feels sad
Get things right and sometimes makes mistakes
Gets scared about going to school
Is afraid about going to sleep in the dark
Plays with friends some days and sometimes prefers to be by
himself
Is good at some things and not so good at other things
Tell the students that BBB has a special backpack where he keeps
his special tricks to help him when he feels like things are a little
tough.
Ask the students if they have anything in their special back pack
that they can use when they need to bounce-back.
2. Sequence of learning experiences: (What will you do to
help the students achieve the learning objectives? What

tasks and activities will the students be involved in to help

achieve the learning objectives?)
Introduce the skill of positive thinking
Explain that BBB likes to
Think that when things arent going well he knows that they will get
better
Think good things can happen
Try hard and persevere
Find a small positive in a bad situation
Look on the bright side
Get the students to draw examples of when they have used positive
thoughts to overcome their bad times, possible examples below:
What is one good thing that has happened
to you today?
What is one thing that you have done well today?
What is one thing that you are looking forward to?
What is one thing that you are getting better at?
What is one thing that makes you happy?
What is one thing that makes you feel important?
What is one good memory you have?
What is one nice thing someone has done for you today?
What is one good thing that you know will happen?
What is one thing you have tried very hard to do and made it?

3. Lesson conclusion: (How will you summarise the learning

and relate it to the lesson objectives?)
Reading of Diary of a Wombat
Explain that the wombat is very resilient but he isnt very
nice

Remember to bounce back

Think positive and look on the bright side of life
Remember that when bad things do happen that they do
get better
and then hand over to Mrs Delaporte.

Lesson Evaluation:
(Reflect on the lesson. What worked? What did not work? What would you
change? Why?)
After completing the lesson, I was informed that the school I was at
followed the Western Australian curriculum rather than the
Australian curriculum that I used. Next time I will ask what
curriculum the school follows before planning the lesson.
The biggest downfall wasnt the lesson, it was me not knowing
every students name. Knowing students names is a vital skill for all
teachers. If I knew the names I think the flow of the class would of
ran smoother as I would not have had to pause to as students what

their names were.

I was also pleased by the stories of reliance that the students had
which showed a clear understanding of resilience i.e. training
wheels on bikes, tying shoe laces and many others.
The students were enthusiastic and engaged by the lesson and they
enjoyed my expressive style of reading aloud.
I think this was a solid lesson overall and I would use similar
structures if I am teaching younger students again.
