RESEARCH PROPOSAL

BUDI-LN KEMENRISTEKDIKTI
1. TITLE OF PROPOSAL : Study Developing Signal and Image Processing Methods of
Ultrasound, CT (Computed Tomography) and MRI (Magnetic
Resonance Imaging) in Three-Dimensional Imaging Diagnosis
and Flow Analysis of Cardiovascular Tissues.

2. ABSTRACT

: the purpose of study was to develop signal and image

processing method of ultrasound, CT (computed tomography)
and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) in three-dimensional
imaging diagnosis and flow analysis of cardiovascular tissues
and develop of acoustic microscope for precise biomedical
imaging. The method measurement is a system simulation on
basis of concept of flow observer.

3. INTRODUCTION
a. Backgrounds
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is caused by disorders of the heart and blood vessels
and includes coronary heart disease (heart attacks). According to the World Health
Organization (WHO), CVD is the number one cause of death globally and is the
projected to remain the leading cause of death.
Clinical diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of cardiovascular disease are greatly aided
by a number of imaging techniques which provide qualitative and quantitative
information about morphology and function.
Many researchers have reported that the development, progress, and rupture of
aneurysms are related to the hemodynamics, the exiting diagnosis of the aneurysms
mainly considers the anatomical abnormalities shown by X-ray CT, MRI, or
ultrasonography.
For diagnostic measurement, ultrasonography is the common methodology.
Ultrasound is known as safe and portable imaging modality in clinical settings. The
application of ultrasound microscope also covers field of orthopedic surgery.

EchoDynamography represents the flow dynamics in the heart chamber by application

of some laws on fluid dynamics on clinical color Doppler echocardiography.

b. Significance of the proposed project

The combination of technology with developed 3D ultrasound microscope and
applied it assessment of aging of human skin and 3D blood flow analysis in MRI
imaging. Then our goal is to understand the interaction between myocardial blood
flow and blood flow and use mobile imaging for social health care system and disaster
medicine.

c. Purposes
1. Three dimensional / automatic precise diagnosis of cardiovascular tissues
2. Blood flow analysis of cardiovascular system
3. Development of acoustic microscope for precise biomedical imaging

4. METHODS
In this section, Numerical experiment procedure is first explained, and the settings of
numerical experiment to investigate signal and image processing methods of ultrasound, CT
(computed tomography) and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) in three-dimensional
imaging diagnosis and flow analysis of cardiovascular tissues is explained in detail.
Recently, three dimensional blood flow simulation with realistic blood vessel
geometry has become a powerful tool yielding details of the blood flow field owing to
substantial progress in computational techniques and computer power. Each existing method
of measurement and computation entail its own difficulties in providing complete
information on the blood flow. To solve this problem, we must develop a system simulation
on basis of concept of flow observer.
