Dear

We are extremely sorry to receive your complaint

The cloth has been

first complaint we have received of its arriving in a

There has been very little of interest in the

market during the week. Fluctuations have nevertheless
been frequent, and at times wide, owing to the one-sided
character of trading met with, which naturally makes
the values easily moved either way. The tendency has,

RUSSIAN COMMERCIAL CORRESPONDENCE

however, been mostly upwards for various reasons, one

of the chief being hedge covering against losses. Offerings have at all times been restricted, and purchases have
in consequence had an unduly exaggerated effect on the
market.

The new crop situation has not changed much,

although during the last day or two reports of improving
weather have been received. But the outlook is still

much

too uncertain to admit of any pronounced views

regarding prices, as apart from everything else a moderatesized crop is necessary if supplies are to be kept up.
So until there is more known of what we may expect

no very great inducement to sell is held out.

To-day sales were only 5000 bales. Spinners' inquiries
have tailed off again, notwithstanding the easing of selling
bases for several qualities.

To-day's business comprised

4220 American, 300 Egyptian, 250 Peruvian, 200 African,
and 30 East Indian, 500 Americans being put down to
(say

export and speculation.
