BBF 2124 FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT II

GROUP PROJECT
(To be informed during the first tutorial / lecture class)
Grouping
There should be between 4-5 students in a group. Once you have registered your
group members, changes will not be allowed.
You have to register your group by submitting a printed copy of the registration form
to your respected Tutor during the tutorial class in WEEK 3.
The members should be in the same tutorial group.
Topics
Selection of the topic will be based on first come, first serve basis.
Please refer to Page 2 for the case scenario.
Project write-up
Your report must be typed, 1.5-spaced, using font 12 (Times New Roman).
The report must include:
a) The cover page
b) Table of contents
c) Content Introduction, Body, Conclusion (between 20 and 25 pages).
d) References APA style
e) Appendix (if applicable)
You are not allowed to plagiarize any materials. Please follow the rules of proper
referencing.
Please note that any act of plagiarism is a serious academic offence and you may get
an F grade for your paper.

Submission
Due date for the project is on 22 September 2016 (Week 13) by 4 pm.
Late submissions will be penalized.
Grading
The lecturer will examine the thoroughness of your work and the presentation of
your report i.e. content, format, grammar, graphic presentations, etc.
This report constitutes 30% of your overall grade so make sure you do it well.

CASE SCENARIO:
Scenario: You have been appointed as a Corporate Financial Advisor to the Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) of a public listed company in Malaysia.
Effective Date of Appointment: 27 June, 2016.
Tasks:

To suggest new ventures / projects / assets those is / are financially viable

and practical for the company to deal with.(refer to Chapter 10 and Chapter 11)
To give recommendation on the usage of any specific type(s) of capital for
the new business venture(s) / expansion(s).(refer to Chapter 9)
To analyze the firms leverage and capital structure situation.(refer to
Chapter 13)

Extra (optional): Any related financial issues / problems / findings / ideas

based on your expertise and capability that might be brought to the CEOs
knowledge.

Special Task: Do recommend a corporate restructuring involving a merger OR a

consolidation with any companies (same industry OR different) listed in Bursa
Malaysia that could provide a great synergy to the company. (refer to Chapter 18)
Requirement: As the new Corporate Financial Advisor, you are required to
prepare the 1st comprehensive consultative report to be presented to the CEO
within 3 months from the date of the appointment.
