The main advantages of performing a clean install are that ithe o/s will install quickly from dvd , also it
will delete any junk files and registry files that have been added to the old installation, it can also delete
any undetected viruses that may be hiding on the partition. This will mean that the computer runs as fast
as possible and should not be slowed down by unnecessary files bogging down the system. It is also
generally easier to perform the clean install.
The main disadvantages are that the user will have to manually back up and user profiles and programs as
a clean install will cause all data to be wiped, then reinstall our user profiles and programs. The user will
also have to go through numerous lengthy restarts due to the amount of windows updates that will need to
be installed for security and reliability purposes.
