UNSCHEDULED MAINTENANCE INSPECTIONS

1. General
A. An unscheduled maintenance inspection is carried out when the engine is subjected to
unusual stress or operating conditions, exceeds operating limitations or gives
unsatisfactory performance. For the conditions listed in Para. 5., do the maintenance
tasks indicated.
B. If, as the result of the inspection, engine removal is required, a written report, stating
the cause of removal in detail (e.g. overspeed, overtemperature etc.) must be sent
with the engine to an overhaul/repair facility.
C. If an operational engine must be removed, a power assurance check (Ref. 72-00-00,
ADJUSTMENT/TEST) is recommended before engine removal to determine the extent
of repair required.
NOTE:

A power assurance check must not be carried out on engines which have exceeded
operating limitations (e.g. overspeed in excess of transient, overtemperature etc.) or
which have defects which can extend with engine running (i.e. oil system
contamination, etc.).
