We are immensely pleased to welcome you to this technical lecture series on New
Generation Creep resistant Low Alloy Chrome-Moly Steels and their welding by a
world-renowned expert on materials, Mr.J.F. (Jeff) Henry, Director, Materials Technology
Center, Alstom Power Inc. USA, and Chairman section II Materials of American Welding
Society. The lecture series is being held at six select locations during Jan-Feb 2006.
This is in sequel to our efforts in organising Continuous Welding Education Programme
(CWEP) following the grand success of the first programme on Welding of Stainless Steel
by Dr. Damian J. Kotecki, President, AWS held during February 2005.
There are certain key alloys, stainless steels, nickel alloys and low alloy steels that are of
paramount importance to the power generation, petrochemical and oil and gas industries.
This lecture series provides a comprehensive guide by addressing the significance of
chrome-moly alloys, their evolution and their role in these fundamental industries.
The power and petrochemical industries of India are witnessing an unprecedented growth
pace bringing along a technological revolution by usage of new generation low alloy steel
materials having very good high temperature properties such as resistance to creep and
embrittlement. They can operate comfortably at higher temperature and pressure to deliver
higher output, efficiency and flexible enough to keep a close watch on pollution!
