PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
COMPLEMENTARY OBJECTIVES
To build an image in MIDHANI, the best company from, to work for and
to sell to sell to, the leading enterprise in the country and not a mere
industry but a public faith. To maintain harmonious personnel
environment and provide opportunities that will attack, develop and retain

HR DIVISION IN MIDHANI:
It is center point to extended welfare measures to the employee of Midhani
during the working life within the factory and also outside the organization in many

ways. Midhani is very much concerned about the health of the employees as well as their
families, a comprehensive scheme for reimbursement of medical expenses has been
implemented.
There is a full fledged aid center located in the centre of the factory,
working round the clock. Also First Aid boxes with required appliances are provided in
all the production units. The First Aid center is manned with a qualified medical officer
with added P.G qualification in industrial health, assisted by 5 Para medical staff working
round the clock. An Ambulance with experienced drivers is also provided to serve round
the clock to shift the patients in case of emergency. Apart from this 1 qualified medical
officer is also functioning from MIDHANI Township to cater to the medical needs of the
colony residents.
About 42 hospitals like Corporate, Trust and Nursing homes for inpatient
treatment of employees and their dependents are recognized by the company. MIDHANI
pays 85% of the admissible amount for inpatient treatment directly to hospitals. 15% of
expenditure has to be borne by the respective employees.
About 140 medical practitioners and 60 specialists and various
pathological labs/ clinics are recognized for outpatient treatment of employees.
Each employee is issued with a medical identity card for availing medical
treatment in the hospitals recognized by MIDHANI. Employees are given First Aid
training regularly under the training programme by Factory Medical Officer. Employees
are being counseled on health and preventive health measures regularly by the Company
Medical Officer.
The Factory medical officer along with the safety officer regularly visit the
shop-floor in order to see the maintenance of house keeping, sanitation etc.
The welfare measures are categorized into two types:
1. Statutory welfare measures as per the Factorys Act / Rules.
2. Non statutory (voluntary) welfare measures.
Statutory welfare measures:
In order to comply with the provisions of Factories Act, MIDHANI as a model
employer, has provided the welfare amenities which are summarized below-

Under the statuary welfare measures washing facilities for male and female
employees are provided at the convenient and accessible places. Changed rooms/rest
rooms with a provision of lockable almirahs to keep their personnel belongings and
provision for storing and drying the cloth are provided. Separate bathrooms and attached
toilets for male and female are provided.
Though there is a full fledged First Aid Center located in the centre of the factory,
First Aid boxes with required appliances are provided in all the production units. The
First Aid facilities are extended to the contract and casual labour also.
A canteen equipped with the sophisticated kitchen and plenty of modern
kitchenware is centrally located in the factory premises and easily accessible to all
employees is provided. The edible items provided in the canteen are highly subsidized.
Welfare Officers:
The organization has employed Welfare Officers from SC, ST, OBC categories. A
Deputy Chief personal manager is employed at Head Office. These officers are taking
care of the welfare as aspects at the Regional work shop and at the depot land the depot
manager carries out the necessary work in accordance with the provisions of the Acts.
Employee Provident Fund Act 1952:
The establishment is exempted and permitted to have provident fund trust with in
the company to facilitate the employees to have accessibility for the purposes (refundable
and non refundable loans) specified in the Act. The trust also undertakes the job of
maintaining data of PF members in the entire company and it also helps to settle the
claims of deceased employee and pension claims.
Payment of Gratuity Act 1972:
All employees are covered under this Act and the maximum amount of gratuity is
3.5 lakhs in case of resignation, termination of services on any reason gratuity is paid for
the services rendered in the company subject to fulfilling the conditions stipulating the
Act with regard to service eligibility.
In case of death, MIDHANI established a beneficial scheme is the name of
MIDHANI Employee Group Gratuity Scheme with effect from the year 27-12-2001, to
extend more financial assistance to the dependents of deceased employees. In this scheme

the gratuity is calculated for the past service up to the date of normal retirement. The
scheme is linked with pension and group schemes of L.I.C. of India.

Uniforms:
All the regular employees of the company are supplied with 3 pairs of uniforms
clothes or polyster sarees and blouse pieces once in two years. Besides this, Bata safety
shoes, conventional shoes, socks for men and chappals for women are provided. Shoe
maintenance allowance is also provided for technical workmen. The stitching charges
have been enhanced to Rs.150/- per set of terry cot uniforms and Rs.30/- per blouse.
Children Education Allowance:
The company is having a school fee reimbursement scheme where by the
financial assistance is provided by the employee towards their childrens education up to
10+2 standard. This is limited for two children.
Computer Advance:
Company has evolved a scheme of advancing computer loan at nominal rate of
interest to buy personal computer. Since November 1998 in order to cultivate awareness
among its employees by encouraging to own a personal computer at their residences, so
that the employee will be motivated to acquire the require skills on the computer at their
leisure time and will enable them to use the computer in the office more efficiently there
by improving more productivity.
Conveyance Advances:
Company is having a scheme of advancing loans at low rate of interest to the
employees to purchase vehicles like 2 wheelers or 4 wheelers as per their eligibility in
order to enable them to have their own vehicle. Many employees have availed the
benefits of the scheme.
Special Advance:
An amount of Rs.5000/- is being given as interest free recoverable special
advance to executives and non-executives once in a year.
Lunch/meals allowance:
Lunch or meals allowance is paid to the employees provided they are on official
duty away from MIDHANI one hour before and one hour after lunch time.

The department carries out various functions like manpower planning, recruitment
selection, placement, job analysis, training, development, compensation planning, labor
relations, employee welfare, communication network, personnel planning, policy
implementation. This department does every thing with regard to human resource. IT
look aspect the every aspect the every aspect of employees. This department even deals
with the problem of employees and try to solve those problems.
The personnel department in the recent has been discharging both
the staff and the line function. As the central agency for the management of human
resources, the personnel department has assumed great importance in the organizational
structural set up. The personnel department is being managed by the specialists and hence
the department in the modern times has become a specialists department and has gained
immense important role in the success of an organization.
The Personnel Department consists of planning for things to be carried on
perfectly. This department acts as supporter in planning function of planning function of
personnel department. The man power in MIDHANI is 1266 employees. It includes 248
Executives, 153 supervisor cadre 865 non-executives as on ( both technical and nontechnical) Feb 2008.
