The price of your new solar system will depend on how big it is, how many kilowatts (kW) you
choose to install and the quality of the components.
According to the Alternative Energy Association (ATA), the overall average cost of a fully installed
2.0 kW system, before rebates and discounts, in 2013 was roughly $4400.
About 0.50$ per watt
Solar thermal: these systems convert sunlight into thermal energy (heat). Most
solar thermal systems use solar energy for space heating or to heat water (such
as in a solar hot water system). However this heat energy can be used to drive a
refrigeration cycle to provide for solar based cooling. The heat can also be used
to make steam, which can then be used to generate electricity using steam
turbines. It is considered more efficient to build solar thermal electricity
generators at large scale, typically in the tens to hundreds of megawatts
Solar photovoltaic (PV): the conversion of sunlight directly into electricity using
photovoltaic cells. PV systems can be installed on rooftops, integrated into
building designs and vehicles, or scaled up to megawatt scale power plants.

Grid Inter-Tie
A battery solar power storage system is used in a grid-tied PV system with
battery backup and stand-alone PV systems.
The third type of PV solar power system is a grid-tied PV system. This system can
actually use the grid as its solar energy storage system. This is done using netmetering.

Grid returns
Firstly, your solar panels will capture sunlight and convert it directly into energy.
An inverter then converts this energy into electricity you can use in your home.
Some customers can also offset their bill if any extra energy is fed back into the
grid thats the power of solar energy.
