A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is a digitally

operated electronic device that uses a programmable memory for intermediate storage of
instructions that implements specific functions such as logic, sequence, counting, timing
and arithmetic to control machines and processes.
The present project is to observe the various system and
subsystems and the process and its control in the coal handling plant including the
programming logic control adopted for the process control at the first stage and then a
modest attempt to design a PLC for an auto closure of a BUS COUPLER BREAKER
provided in between two 6.6kv power bus bars, which are fed from two distinct power
sources.
In this project we identify the requirement of controls with its
limitations and translate the problem to a logic language and develop the LADDER LOGIC
DIAGRAMES for PLC.
