WESTERN VISAYAS

Guimarasnons express their colorful way of life through a festival called Manggahan
Festival sg Guimaras. The island is not only known locally and nationally for its fresh
and bountiful harvest of mangoes, but also for the artistry of its people. The famous
tribes of Guimaras are Tribu Balsahan of Brgy. Rizal, Tribu Bulaang Moros of
Buenavista, Tribu Bulantihan of Jordan and Asinan Festival Tribe of San Lorenzo. The
Lin-ay sg Guimaras is also one of the events that draw attention annually. The
Manggahan Festival brings out the creativity of Guimarasnons. Handmade and
indigenous products fill the exhibit area at the plaza. Shown below is the creative
Mr. Deogracias Estologa with his notable creation; a gown made of Lotto Tickets.

Today, they wear those colorful costumes only if they have some special occasions
and parades. They make costumes looking like a different animals like Fish and
Birds.

Its theyre source of income to make and design different types of jar as a decoration
and BOLO that is commonly known as itak.

CENTRAL VISAYAS
Four provinces home to many natural wonders, colorful cultural traditions, and a
mix of the old and the new artworks and handmade sculptures. The Region is
composed of four Mountainous island Provinces. The citizens in the Four different
islands are ethnics and the others are already Urbanized. The cultures and traditions
in central Visayas are mostly from Spaniards. And Some of the Known Artworks
there are Solemn and very Religious. The others are Historical.

SANDUGO STATUE
The Sandugo was a blood compact, performed in the island of Bohol in the
Philippines, between the Spanish explorer Miguel Lpez de Legazpi and Datu
Sikatuna the chieftain of Bohol on March 16, 1565, to seal their friendship as part of
the tribal tradition. This is considered as the first treaty of friendship between the
Spaniards and Filipinos. "Sandugo" is a Visayan word which means "one blood".
[1]The Sandugo is depicted in both the provincial flag and the official seal of the
government in Bohol.[2] It also features the image of the blood compact. The top of
the seal explains the history behind the Sandugo event that occurred in Bohol, the
fleet and the location where the Spaniards anchored and the place where the treaty
was conducted which was dated on March 16, 1565.[3]

DANCES IN CENTRAL VISAYAS (today, the Traditional Dances of the Central


Visayans can only be seen in Different Special Occasions and Fiestas just to
remember the Cultures and Traditions of the Old Age Visayans
"kumay-kumay" describes the graceful circular movements of the wrists and "kiaykiay" is the swaying of the hips, the two movements being distinct features of the
traditional dances of the Cebuano-speaking part of the Philippines. Kumay kumays
dancers should wear Barong Tagalog and Saya which is the National Dress for
Filipinos .

Sinulog, the ritual dance of veneration to the Holy Christ Child (Santo Nino de
Cebu). They are Celebrating it wearing Color Red, Yellow and Green Newly Designed
Dress. While the Sinulog Festival queen Hands the Santo Nino de Cebu . Sinulog
Festival is the Best Example of being Religious in this region Which was the result of
being Colonized by the Spaniards in the Historical Times.

EASTERN VISAYAS
Easater Visayas is know in terms of their Formal Art forms just like writing Poetry.
Earliest accounts of East Visayan literature date back to 1668 when a Spanish Jesuit
by the name of Fr. Ignatio Francisco Alzina documented the poetic forms such as the
candu, haya, ambahan, canogon, bical, balac, siday and awit. He also described the
susumaton and posong, early forms of narratives. Theater tradition was very much
in place in the performance of poetry, rituals, and mimetic dances. Dances mimed
the joys and activities of the ancient Waray.

The Waray people are one of the most religious people in the Philippines. Most of
them belong to Roman Catholicism, while others have been converted to various
Christian denominations/groups, and still a small percentage of the population
practice other religion (sometimes alongside Catholicism) such as Buddhism for a
few Chinese descendants in the area. Their religious devotion is very evident in
their celebrations like feasts honoring their patron saints, the "Santa Cruzan" that
should be Celebrated every Year as a Honor and Respect to the Roman Catholic
Cross. The Reyna Elena should wear a dress made by different Leaves of Plants that
is Commonly Known as Gala.

Today, Eastern Visayans were the only Part of Visayas that Shows the Fresh Roman
Catholicism Practices until now,. But of course, Most of them Today already adopted
the arts and designs of the Western and other Asian Countries, while the others still
protects the cultures and traditions of the old Eatern Visayans.

ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA
During the late 15th century and early 16th century, Malay missionaries spread
Islam in the southern Philippines. Sharif Kabungsuwan, a Johore-born missionary of
Malay and Arab descent established the Sultanate of Maguindanao, which the entire
island of Mindanao is named after. And until now, most of the citizens living in
Zamboanga peninsula Are Islams. Islams are very Sensitive in terms of their attire,
they Are prohibited to wear clothes that the hair, neck and some parts of the body
can be seen. They have to wear the Hijab or Scarf as a form of getting away from
seduction.

The region has vast forest resources and previously used to export different Crafts,
logs, lumber, veneer, plywood, gold, chromite, coal, iron, lead, manganese, coal,
silica, salt, marble, silica sand, and gravel.
