This course provides entry-level as well as the experienced controls technician with the skills necessary to install, interface with and
troubleshoot a Carrier Comfort Network. The course begins with a review of basic control theory followed by a discussion of the
standard algorithms used to control typical HVAC systems. Network configuration options and requirements, CCN architecture and
standard communications protocol will also be covered in detail. Students are then introduced to CCN family of standalone and
networked controllers, learn their function within the network and how they are wired. Students will learn how to use Network Service
Tool V software to interface with selected training simulators and will alter set point tables, occupancy schedules and monitor
algorithm performance.
Objectives:
Describe DDC and the four types of control points used
Learn basic DDC control loop theory
Learn the three basic strategies (PID) for operating DDC control loops
Identify various algorithms for standard HVAC applications
Identify major CCN modules and factory mounted PICs.
Understand CCN architecture and rules for addressing devices
Effectively use Network Service Tool V software
Audience:
Individuals involved in the operation of the Carrier Comfort Network to include controls technicians and application engineers. Building
operators and salespeople seeking more in-depth understanding should also attend.
Prerequisites:
Those attending should understand basic HVAC principles and have computer operating experience.
Computer/Hardware Requirements:
Students must provide a Computer with Network Service Tool 5 or ComfortView
(Please ensure computer and software is tested before attending class)
Need to bring a pair of wire strippers and small screwdriver
CCN-201 PremierLink 2.0 1-Day
This course is designed to introduce the Carrier PremierLink Rooftop Controller, including applications, installation, programming,
start-up and troubleshooting. Classroom lecture is supplemented with problem solving and hands-on workshop with control hardware
and software. A design project is used to integrate the material and allow students to apply the principles learned in class.
Objectives:
Learn how PremierLink controls the staging of cooling and heating
Understand common PremierLink applications
Effectively program PremierLink controller
Understand how to implement demand control ventilation (DCV) strategies
