LETTER OF INVITATION
The CCJEF Court Decision And What It Means For Connecticut Children

To Those Who Care About Children:

You are cordially invited to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 641
Farmington Ave., Suite 202 from 11am 12pm.

Guest Speakers:
Alex A. Knopp Lecturer in Law at Yale Law School teaching The Education and Adequacy Project
and former Mayor of Norwalk CT
Jennifer Alexander Chief Executive Officer of Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now
Why? On Wednesday, September 7, 2016, Connecticut students received a huge victory in court!
Hartford Superior Court Judge Thomas Moukawsher ruled in the case of Connecticut Coalition for
Justice in Education Funding (CCJEF) v. former Governor Jodi Rell that Connecticuts educational
system has continued to fail poor children. As a result, educational decision makers must submit a
comprehensive plan to the court in 180 days that will outline how they will address inequities in
education within Connecticut public schools such as education funding, educator hiring, teacher
evaluations and special education funding, just to name a few.
As community leaders throughout Connecticut, it is important that we debrief about how to sustain
this court decision that puts the needs of every Connecticut student first.
