Rationale
Thiscoursewillfocusonbuildinganethicallyandempiricallybasedexaminationofbusinessandprofessionalissues
relevanttotherealitiesofthecorporateendeavourincludingthegovernanceofcorporations,theimpactsof
corporatedecisionsonvariousstakeholdersandtheissueofeconomiccorruption.Thecoursewillintroduce
studentstoarangeoftheoreticalapproachestocorporateethicaldecisionmakingwithinthecontextofcasebased
analysisandappliedresearchmethodologies.
Synopsis
Thefundamentalroleofbusinessistobenefitsocietythroughtheprovisionofvalueaddingproductsandservices.
Thiscoursewillexposestudentstoarangeofcomplexandproblematicmoralcasesthatwillrequirethecollection
ofdatatoprovidethebasisforsolutionsthatwillachievecorporateoutcomeswithoutrestraintfromtheoretical
moralreasoning.Studentswillberequiredtoconsideravarietyofpossibilitiesofmoralconsequencestotheir
decisionsandtodeveloptheabilitytoimagineawiderangeofpossibleissues,consequencesandsolutions.

Thisisarestrictedexamination.Theonlymaterialsthatcandidatesmayuseintheexaminationforthiscourse

i.writingmaterials.Thesemustbenonelectronicandfreefrommaterialwhichcouldgivethestudentan
unfairadvantageintheexamination.
ii.anunmarkednonelectronictranslationdictionary(butnottechnicaldictionary).Astudentwhosefirst
