I. INTRODUCTION
Nutrition is the supply of materials- food- required by organisms
and cells to stay alive. In Science and human medicine, nutrition is the
science or practice of consuming and utilizing foods. Nutrition also
focuses on how diseases, conditions and problems can be prevented or
lessened with a healthy diet.
The nutritional status of Filipino children varies greatly, with
higher income groups having advantage over the poorest revealing
major disparities across the country. These gaps reflect energy and
nutrient

intake

the

affluent

and

poor

Food eaten in the school contributes to the pupils daily nutrient

intake and influences their growth and development. Along this line,
school canteen has a special task to play because the canteen should
only sell healthy and nutritious foods. It is, therefore, important that
the school must develop a policy for its canteen and other school food
services that supports this role. It is important that the nutritious food
items are attractive to pupils and are offered at an affordable price that
will contribute to profit. A good policy of a school canteen that supports
healthy eating and practices should be promoted to benefit the school
children.
In support to the K to 12 curriculum aiming to produce
holistically, develop learners who have 21st century skills and are
prepared

development,

employment, and entrepreneurship, an income generating project on

Maja Squash Con Malunggay will be initiated by the project implementer with
the pupils as cooperators. This is also to introduce to children the
entrepreneurship to prepare them for functional learning and living.
The income generating project aims to offer opportunities for the
pupils to acquire knowledge, skills and means of living through making and
selling Maja Squash Con Malunggay. In addition, the pupils will have access to
nutritious and affordable snack in school. With this, the school is doing its
responsibility in providing healthy environment and functional literacy as
well. Thus, observing wholesome development among learners in the school.
Malunggay (Moringa) contains more than 90 nutrients and 46 types of
antioxidants. With all the health benefits of moringa, it can easily be termed
as the most nutritious plant on the face of the earth. There are no side-effects
of moringa tree leaves which have been proved till date. At the same time it
can be consumed by small children and adults alike. Therefore, many people

have started using it in porridge, pastas, breads, etc., to reap the everlasting
health benefits of the extraordinary moringa.
Squash is one of the most nutrient-rich vegetables there are Summer
squash often contains much more water than denser varieties of winter
squash. For this reason, winter squash is still very beneficial, if it is cooked
appropriately. Squash that is baked or steamed is better able to retain its
nutrient rich properties and health benefits. Boiling squash or adding more
water than necessary when cooking squash depletes many of these nutrients.

II. OBJECTIVES:
