COGNATES are words in different languages that

look/sound alike and have similar meanings.


Example: la tlphone (French) and telephone (English)
are cognates.
Nonexample: le crayon (French) and crayon (English) look
alike but mean DIFFERENT things.

Directions:
1. Write the alphabet vertically on a sheet of paper
2. Using the French-English glossary in the textbook,
write ONE cognate for each letter of the alphabet.
Write ONLY the French word.
3. Turn in your work to the grey box when youre
done.
