GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Purpose and Scope
The purpose of the present procedure is to define The Technical Document Numbering System
applicable to Technical Documents produced from the Bidding Stage of a Project onwards.
This numbering is following the guidance of British Standard PAS1192-2:2013
2. Basic Principles
PROJECT code: project specific mandatory field of 2 or 3 alpha-numerical characters, referring to both
2D and 3D documents, filled in by the issuer according to the list of the authorised Project codes.
ORIGINATOR / ISSUER code: project specific mandatory field of 2 or 3 alpha-numerical characters,
referring to both 2D and 3D documents, filled in by the issuer according to the list of the authorised
Originator/Issuer codes.
VOLUME / ZONE / AREA code: project specific mandatory field of 2 or 3 alpha-numerical characters,
referring to both 2D and 3D documents, filled in by the issuer according to the list of the authorised
Building/Area codes.
LEVEL / LOCATION code: project specific mandatory field of 2 or 3 alpha-numerical characters,
referring to both 2D and 3D documents, filled in by the issuer according to the list of the authorised
Level/Location codes.
TYPE code: company standard mandatory field of 2 or 3 alpha-numerical characters, referring to both
2D and 3D documents, filled in by the issuer according to the list of the authorised Type codes.
DISCIPLINE / TRADE code: Company standard mandatory field of 2 or 3 alpha-numerical characters,
referring to both 2D and 3D documents, filled in by the issuer according to the list of the authorised
Discipline/Trade codes.
SEQUENCE NUMBER: Company standard mandatory field composed of a minimum & maximum
6 numeric characters, referring to both 2D and 3D documents. Minimum requirement for Sequence
Number - please refer to ''Naming Convention 2D''.
REVISION: Company standard mandatory field of 1 alphabetic character complying with the following
rule:

3. Management and Dispatch of Authorised Codes Lists
All proposal of modification of the authorised project specific codes (Project, Originator/Issuer,
Building/Area, Level/Location, Zone) must first be agreed by the project Document Controller, who will
refer to Bouygues UK CL&SE Technical Department Document Control Manager for approval.
All proposal of modifications of the authorised company standard codes (Discipline/Trade, Type,
Local/Central, Sequence Number, Revision) must be referred to Bouygues UK CL&SE Technical
Department Document Control Manager for approval.
The up-to-date listings of the authorised codes are dispatched by the Document Controller on a
regular basis during the Project on 4Projects in folder '01 - Project Standard Information'.
