ABSTRACT
Acute respiratory infections (ARI) are complex entities with great significance
and are considered as an indicator of the possibilities infant to have a normal
development, occupying a key place in morbidity and mortality in different
stages of life. A descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study, part of the
research Primary Health Care was performed. The study group was formed with
424 children under 2 years treated at the Cevallos Centre Health during the
period from July to December 2015, the sample consisted of 90 children with
ARF treated at this center in the period analyzed.
Data were collected from medical records of patients and were processed using
descriptive statistics and frequency distributions by formulas of a Microsoft
Excel workbook. Predominated children aged 1 to 2 years, males with normal
weight, who received breastfeeding and had moderate episodes frequently in
