Additional Notes
The first line in each of your programs should look like:
$FILENAME.MIN%
All file I/O operations on an Okuma are done in the "PIP" mode.
Once you put the CNC into EDIT mode, you can press the DIR
soft-key, then press the WRITE key on the right of the number
keypad to display your file directory. You can enter PIP mode by
pressing the "PIP" soft key, then WRITE. You can then press the
PUNCH soft key, followed by a file name, then the WRITE key to
transmit. To receive, press the READ soft key, then press
WRITE. After sending or receiving a file, you must press the
"EXIT PIP" key, then WRITE. To edit your "Z.MIN" message file,
press the EDIT key, enter "Z.MIN" then WRITE.
To send a file to PC-DNC,
1) Put CNC into EDIT mode
2) Press the DIR soft key + WRITE (to show your files)
3) Press the PIP soft key + WRITE
4) Press the PUNCH soft key, enter your file name, then press
WRITE
To request and load a file from PC-DNC plus
1) Put CNC into EDIT mode
2) Press EDIT key, enter "Z.MIN" then press WRITE
3) Edit the Z.MIN file to show only one block of data, like so:
*TESTFILE.MIN (this is a request for file "TESTFILE.MIN")
4) Press the "END EDIT" soft key, then WRITE
5) Send file Z.MIN to PC-DNC with the method shown above to
send a file
6) Within 20 seconds or so, press the READ soft key, then press
WRITE
For other PC-DNC software programs, to send a program to your
Okuma, queue it on the computer then execute PIP --> READ
on your CNC.
RS232 Support
If set correctly, Okumas can see the filename encoded into the
first line of the file, and will register the incomming data under
that file name when it is received. To get this to work correctly
(especially in older OSPs) the file format and leader/trailer has
to be correct.
