about the various ways your argument could be read or misread and
plan accordingly.
Concentrate on the material you are gathering. Any academic argument is
only as good as the evidence it presents to support its claims. Give each
major piece of evidence (say, a lengthy article that addresses your subject dire
ctly) careful scrutiny:
? Summarize its main points.
? Analyze how those points are pertinent.
? Evaluate the quality of the supporting evidence.
? Synthesize the results of your analysis and evaluation.
