An Australian girl is talking about her gap year in Britain.
Ive been living in the UK for about two months now and Ive been experiencing as much Britishness as I can. Tea, cricket, the English pub that sort of thing. The country is completely different to home (Australias home for me) and since Ive been here Ive really wanted to immerse myself in British culture. Its famous for it after all. So far Ive been to a couple of football games, a couple of local festivals (how many beer festivals are there in this country?) and sight-seeing in and around London. From what Ive seen so far the UK is completely unique. I loved Nelsons Column its very big. In fact, everything in London is big the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Trafalgar Square even Big Ben lives up to its name! Theres so much history and so much going on. When I heard about Notting Hill Carnival I knew I had to go because I was told that Notting Hill Carnival epitomizes UK multiculturalism because here we have in London city the second largest carnival in the world after Rio, organized by the Caribbean community in London. What would visitors say about France? Paris? RECAP: In what way do people from different countries differ?
