InstallationProceduresforWindows

2.1

Prerequisites

Pleasemakesurethefollowingprerequisiteshavebeenmet:
MustberunonWindows7orhigher(usingParallelsonaMacwillnotwork)
Yourcomputermusthaveatleast3GBofram.

2.2

Security

Ifyoureusingwindows,yourcomputermay:
1. Informyouthatyoucantinstalltheprogramtoaspecificareabecauseitsbeendownloadedfrom
theInternetinwhichcase,wesuggestyouinstallittoafolderonyourdesktop.
2. InformyoutoUnblocktheappsothatitcanbeinstalledpleaseconfirmandorunblockthatapp
sothatitcanproperlybeinstalled.

Pleasenotethatthisisanartifactofyourcomputerssetting,andnotallcomputerswilldisplaythese
messages.

2.3

Installation

Theinstallationfortheapplicationisprettystraightforward.ItisassumedthattheuserisusingWindows7
orabove,andthemachinehasatleast3GBofRAM.

Onceyougettheinstallationfile"

",pleaseunzipittoyourdesktop,thengo

installationprocess.


Itwillstartthecommandlinetool.

Thentheinstallationstartpagewillbepresented.

Clickthe"Next"buttontwice,you'llseethelicenseagreementpage.Bydefault,the"Next"buttonis
disabled.Youhavetocheckthe"Iacceptthetermsofthislicenseagreement"optiontoenablethe"Next"
button.


Clickthe"Next"buttontoproceed.Thenitwillallowtheusertoselecttheinstallationpath.Clickthe
"Browse..."buttontochangetheinstallationpath.

Afterselectingapath(e.g.C:\NASA),clickthe"Next"button.Itwilldisplayawarningpopup,click"Yes".
Thenthewarningpopupwillbedismissed.

Clickthe"Next"button.Itwilldisplaypreselectedpackswhichneedtobeinstalled.

Clickthe"Next"button.Itwillstarttoinstalltheapp.Theprogressscreenlookslike:

Waitforseveralminutes,onceitisdoneinstalling,you'llseethesuccessmessage.

Optionally,youcanclickthe"Next"buttontosetshortcutsorjustclickthe"Quit"buttontoquitthe
installation.

Youcanseethattheapplicationisinstalledunderthechosenpath.Gointothechosenpath("C:\NASA"in
thiscase),theinstalledfilesandfolderslooklikebelow:

UninstalltheApplication

Touninstalltheapplication,navigatetothefolderwhereyouinstalledtheapp.GototheUninstall
subdirectoryandclickUninstaller.jartouninstalltheapp.

RuntheApplication

Oncetheapplicationisinstalled,it'stimetorunit.Gointotheinstallationpath,thendoubleclickthe
"
start.bat
"filetoruntheapplication.

Itwillstartthecommandlinetoolandthentheapplicationwillbeopenedinthedefaultbrowser.

NOTE:Pleasemakesuretokeepthecommandlinewindowopenwhenusingtheapp,otherwisethe
appwillnotfunction.

Security

Clickthe"Next"button.Itwillstarttoinstalltheapp.Waitforseveralminutes,onceitisdoneinstalling,you'll
seethesuccessmessage.

3.4

UninstalltheApplication

Touninstalltheapplication,navigatetotheApplicationfolder,andremovethedirectorywhereyouinstalled
theapplication.

3.5

RuntheApplication

Oncetheapplicationisinstalled,it'stimetorunit.GotoFinder,andenterTerminal.TheTerminalappwill
thenlaunch.GototheApplicationsfolder,locatetheappfolder,grabstart.sh,anddragstart.shintothe
terminalwindow.Thiswillthenlaunchtheapplicationwithinyourdefaultbrowser.

NOTE:Pleasemakesuretokeeptheterminalwindowopenwhenusingtheapp,otherwisetheapp
willnotfunction.

4.1

Prerequisites

Installation

3. Gointothefolder
4. Rightclickon"asteroidinstallerlinuxubuntu.jar",selectProperties,andthenselectthe
Persmissionstab.
5. Checkthecheckboxnextto"Allowexecutingfileasprogram"
6. Closethepropertieswindow
7. Nowdoubleclick"asteroidinstallerlinuxubuntu.jar"andtheinstallerwilllaunch.
8. AllstepsfromtheWindowssectionandonwardsmatchtheLinuxinstallerinstructions.
9. Gototheinstalledfolder.
10. Rightclick"start.sh"andseletProperties.
11. GotothePermissionstab.Makesure"Allowexecutingfileasprogram"ischecked.
12. OpenTerminal
13. Drag"start.sh"intotheTerminalwindowandhitenter.
14. Theappwilllaunch.

UninstalltheApplication

Theinstallationfortheapplicationisprettystraightforward.ItisverysimilartotheMacOSXinstallation.

ViewDashboard(ApplicationHomepage)

Thehomepagewillbedisplayedafterlaunchingtheapplication.Therewillbe3tabsavailable:
DASHBOARD,SEARCHandSKY.Thedefaulttabis"DASHBOARD",whichisthehomepageofthe
application.

SelectDataFilestoHunt

Theusercanclickthe"BROWSE"buttontoselectdatafilestohuntdata.Itisrequiredthattheuserhasto
selectexactly4filesonetime.

Inordertoselectmultiplefiles,you'llneedtoholdthe"Ctrl"button(forWindows)orthe"Command"button
(forMac)inthefilesbrowser.


Afterselecting4filessuccessfully,itwilldisplaythechosenfilesname(
commaseparated
)inthetextfield.

StartHuntingData

Theusercanclickthe"STARTHUNTING"buttontostartdatahuntingafterselecting4datafiles.

Itwilldisplaythedatahuntingprogresswithapercentindicator.

Whenthedatahuntprocessisfinished,itwilldisplaytheresults.Itlookslike:

DisplayDataHuntResults

Clicking"OK"willclosethepopup.Itwillthendisplaythedatahuntresults.Thelatestresultssectionand
searchhistorysectionwillbeupdatedwithhuntdata.

Theusercanclickanynumberbuttontoviewtheimage:

Theusercanviewsearchhistorybyselectingthe"SEARCH"tab.Bydefault,alldatawillbedisplayedand
sortedbyDateindescendingorder.

Thereisapaginationwhichcanbeusedfornavigatingtodifferentpages.Thedatacanbesortedin
ascendingordescendingorderbyeachcolumnheader.Thecurrentsortingruleisindicatedbythearrow
directionnexttothecolumnheader(Arrowdownmeansdescending,arrowupmeansascending).Thereis
alsoafilterwhichcanfilterbydifferentfiltercriteria.Pleaserefertothechapter4.1formoredetails.The
