Designed an algorithm to solve Scramble Squares 3x3 puzzles

Determines the set of all sides that match, then tests only the combinations that work

Solves puzzle around seven orders of magnitude faster than brute force
Built basic genetic algorithm using strings

Proof of concept genetic algorithm that converges to a given string given a random gene
pool and mutation rates

Could easily be expanded upon for use in a bigger problem
