the Indonesia National Police (INP) and
military through training in New Zealand, visits
and cooperation, including by the New Zealand
Police (NZP) and the New Zealand Defence

Cooperation on defence under Mutual
Assistance Program are: training, joint
exercise, and PKO. Both side also continued
training for Indonesian military at the NZDF
Command and Staff College.
On the educational training, Indonesia
regularly sent 1 officer for a year training in NZ.
This has not been in reciprocal basis.
Indonesia proposed 3 places for Indonesia in
2015.
Two-way visit and intensive bilateral meetings
between defence and military officers through
ADMM+ and EWG on Peacekeeping
Operations, the next EWG on Maritime
Security.
Commitment to implement the Arrangement on
Cooperation in Preventing and Combating
Transnational Crimes.
Information exchange on transnational crimes.

Community Policing Program (EICPP) could
be
transferred
to
establish
another
development program for the community such
as in agriculture sector in Eastern Part of
Indonesia.
Polri has been encouraging the Minister of
Police/Justice to visit Indonesia.
Other on-going programs are:
- 50 NZ annual scholarships for Indonesian
officials including Polri.
- JCLEC Training in Semarang (on people
smuggling, education on money laundry, and
countering violent extremism).
- Visits of Polri officials to NZ.

Trade
New Zealand has proposed to host the 5th
SOM TIF in Wellington on 20-21 June 2016
per Ambassador of NZs letter to the
Indonesian Ministry of Trade dated 11 April

Total bilateral trade: NZ$ 1.7 billion (2015)
BKPM, ITPC in Sydney and Indonesian
Embassy in Wellington held an Indonesian
Investment and Business Networking Forum in
Auckland, 6 May 2016 attended by 80 people
through meeting with Indonesian diaspora,
Business Forum and Networking as well as
one-on-one meeting with 9 NZ companies
interested to invest in Indonesia (Fonterra Cooperative Group Ltd, IGENZ Ltd and
Healthcare Holding Ltd, Cable Ways Ltd,
Infratec Ltd, Power Technology (Powertech)
Ltd, Tricare Ltd, Enviroplaz Int. Ltd, Brian
Thorrington (sole trader), and Oceanic
Multitrading Pty Ltd).
The 4th SOM TIF was held in Jakarta, 4-5
March 2014, with outcomes:
- fully implement the AANZFTA Agreement;
- support exchange of visit for trade
missions;
- resolutely resolve on the issues of trade
access;
- to establish NZ Trade Mission Office in
Jakarta;
- realisation of Indonesia's fruit export to New
Zealand such as mangosteen (1st Quarter
of 2014) and snake fruit and mango to NZ;
- implementation on the Arrangement of
Halal Meat between the Indonesian Council
of Ulama and the New Zealand Ministry of
Primary Industries on 10 October 2012;

The trade goal of NZ$ 4 billion (IDR 40
trilyun) within 10 years (2015-2024).will be
pursued by active trade promotion, ITPC
establishment in NZ, in-store promotion instore promotion especially for coconut
product, business to business exchange
visits. Indonesian potential products are
garment, cattle industry and agriculture.
Indonesian mangosteen export to New Zealand
has been commenced since the first quarter of
2014.
New Zealand to provide market access for
Indonesian Salacca and Mango. NZ had
undertaken emergency action and wished to
amend Import Health Standard (IHS) for
Indonesian mangosteen on 23 April 2014.
Ministry of Trade informed that both parties will
identify the remaining non-tariff barriers
regarding fresh meat import from New Zealand.
Ministry of Agriculture informed that Mango will
be assessed, after snake fruit/ salacca, on the
preparation for the exportation to New Zealand.
On the issue of sanitary and good quality of
exported mangosteen through Good Agriculture
Practices (GAP) Process and Good Handling
Practices (GHP) Process prior to shipment.
Delegation from the Ministry of Primary
Industries will visit Indonesia to give
assessment on Indonesia poultry industry in
order to provide access for Indonesias poultry
industry to New Zealand.

Air Services and The 4th SOM TIF, Jakarta, 4-5 March 2014
Tourism Links
agreed for a trade aviation industry, business
linkages in the area of pilot training, ground
handling services, air navigation and airport
operation.
New Zealand has proposed to open 3 new
destination points in Indonesia (Balikpapan,
Medan and Surabaya).
Indonesia has not agreed on the application of
Medan as destination point. In this regard, New
Zealand has proposed to hold consultation on
the bilateral air service agreement as to find
solution on the nomination of a flight route
issue.
The Arrangement on Tourism will be signed
during the visit of Prime Minister John Key to
Indonesia tentatively is scheduled on second
week of September 2015.
