Cardiovascular Study Guide

This is a study guide designed to help you review your knowledge base of cardiac
anatomy and physiology. List the structures, draw, import pictures from the net, or
write a short paragraph, what ever helps you identify your strengths and areas that
need more study. We will spend very little time on these items in class. This
knowledge is critical as a base of understanding for all Cardiac lectures in Level 3.
Please complete prior to week 3, and be prepared to hand it in!
1. Explain the location and functions of the chambers of the heart

2. Where does the blood supply to the heart come from and what kind of blood
supply is it?

3. The heart muscle is special and is composed of 3 layers, what are they and what

4. The heart valves acts as doors between the chambers of the heart, tell me more
about their function and how you can tell if they are having trouble?

5. Tell me what you know about the electrical system of the heart?
How does conduction occur?

What Pathophysiology that gets in the way of the heart doing a good pumping job?
