Basic definitions
Define writing?
The ways that is used word to express your ideas and opinions is called writing.

Define skill?
The ability to do a particular task is called skill.

Define listening skill?


We listen to understand is called listening skill.

Define writing skill?


The ways that is used word to express your ideas and opinions and write to make people
understand is called writing skill.

Define reading skill?


Read to understand and get to know is called reading skill.

Define speaking skill?


Speak to make people understand is called speaking skill.

Define grammar?
Principals to learn to speak any language in the world are called grammar.

Define word?
A meaningful set of alphabets would be a word is called word.

Define sentence?
A combination of words that convey complete sense is called sentence.

Define phrase?
A group of word that conveys some sense but not a complete sense is called phrase.

Define predicate?
A combination of object and verb is called predicates. Predicate says something about the
subject.

Define clause?
A clause is a group of words that has a subject and a predicate and it is a part of larger
sentence is called clause.

Types of sentence
(Meaning wise)
There are five types of meaning wise sentence:
1) Assertive, declarative, affirmative: The sentences that make statement.
2) Interrogative: The sentence that ask question.
3) Imperative (order or request): The sentence that gives command or make
request.
4) Exclamatory (strong feeling): The sentence that present some strong feeling
and emotion of pleasure, anger or sadness.
5) Optative (wish or pray): the sentence that are consisted of some wish or pray.

Type of sentence
(Structure wise)
There are four types of structure wise sentence:
1) Simple sentence: A sentence which has only one predicate finite verb.
2) Finite verb: a verb that limited by the number of its personal.
3) Compound sentence: A sentence with one or more independent clause (but or
and).
E.g. He work hard and that is why he is respected.
4) Complex sentence: A sentence that has one main clause & one or more dependent
clauses .e.g. He said, the fate would defy you, if you do not pray to god & bow before him
and worship him.

Punctuation

Assertive:

First letter of the first word of such sentence would be capital.

A full shop ( ) will be placed at the end.

We use comma ( ) to separate two or more assertive places.

Interrogative:

First letter of the first word of such sentence would be capital.


Question mark will be placed at the end. (Who are you?)

Imperative, exclamatory or optative:

First letter of the first word of such sentence would be capital.

Part of speech
1) Noun: Noun of anything in the world.
Types of nouns:
There are five types of noun.
I. Proper noun: The name of a particular person, place and thing.
II. Common noun: The names which are the referred to in general.
A. Countable common noun: Countable common noun is the name
of person, place, or thing that can be counted. e.g. chairs, classes e.t.c.
B. Uncountable common noun: uncountable common are the names
of things that cannot be counted.

Collective noun: The name of group is called collective noun is called


collective noun.

IV.

Material noun: The name of row material out of which things can be
made.

Abstract noun: The name of abstract quality and feeling. Eg. Jealously,
honor e.t.c.

2) Adjective: The words that qualify noun is called adjective.

Type of adjectives
There are eight types of adjective.

Adjective of quality: The qualifying word which tell us the degree or


magnitude of a noun. E.g. honesty, beauty.
Adjective of quantity: The qualifying words which present the quality of
a noun. E.g. weight, height.
Numeral Adjective: The qualifying word which show the number of a
noun.
Demonstrated adjective: The qualifying word which point out a
particular noun. E.g. that boy, this watch.
Distributed adjective: The qualifying words which separate the noun.
Interrogative: The qualifying words which question words that quality a
noun. E.g. what subject do you like? (unlimited)
Which subject do you like? (Limited or specific)
Possessive adjective: The qualifying words which describe the possessive.
Proper adjective: The qualifying words which are formed from proper
nouns. E.g. Pakistani, punjabian.

Superlative adjective: The quality of a noun which is best in comparison with

the sentence.
E.g. I liked the student who works hard.
Indefinite person: The world which refer to the people in general.
Distributed pronoun: The word that separate the nouns.
E.g. each, everyone.
Reflexive pronoun: it is made by adding self or selves to pronoun.
E.g. himself, themselves.

Emphatic pronoun: The words that emphasize is called emphatic pronoun.


E.g. I myself believed it.
Reciprocal pronoun: A pronoun which reciprocated back is called reciprocal
pronoun.

4) Verb: A word that says something about the subject is called verbs. OR
A word that describe the state, being, or action of subject is called verb.
E.g. baby is sleeping

Types of verb

There are two type of verb.


Transition verb: The verbs that transfer from subject to an object. OR
It is verb that denotes an action which process from subject to object.
E.g. The students respect their teacher.
The Childs respect their parents.
Intransitive verb: It denotes an action which does not pass over from subject
to the object. OR
It can also express the state or being of some person, place or thing.
E.g. the water is boiled.
The baby sleep.

5) Objective: The receiver of the action is called objective.


Type of objective
There are two type of objective.

Direct object: It is usually the name of somethings that is given to somebody.


Indirect objective: It denotes the person to whom something is given or for
whom something is done.

common noun will be singular.

7) Consonant: The sounds, which stop the flow of air is called consonant.
8) Vowel: Vowel is a sound that does not stop the air flow. A will be used with
singular vowels.

9) Paragraph: The combination of sentences which talk about some aspect of a


topic.

10) Conjunction: The words that given join together two sentences, clauses
or words.

Types of conjunction
There are three types of conjunction:

Co-coordinating conjunction: The conjunction which join


together two clause of equal rank.
E.g. and, but, for, also.

Sub ordinating conjunction: The conjunction which joins
together the principal clause with its dependent.

Co- relative conjunction: The conjunction which are used in pairs
and relate to each other are called Co- relative conjunction.
E.g. either or, neither nor, both and, whether or.

b) They are neither Jews nor distributed.

11) Preposition: The words that are placed before a noun or person to show
its relationship with some other noun or pronoun. They help to complete the
meanings of sentences.
E.g. In, of, for, at, below, under e.t.c.
