Lord helps those who help themselves

=====================================

Each one is based in a direct interaction with Nature, with God, or both.
When we connect with God/Goddess and the natural flow of life that permeates all
things, then a joyful
existence is easier to create and maintain. As the old adage goes, What you want,
wants you. You
want to be happy and happy wants you to have it. When you begin to take steps to
make yourself truly
happy, even if those are painful and difficult steps, you will be surprised at h
ow the Universe wraps
around you and avenues to your success open up.
Having established that God wants us to be happy, the question posed at the begi
nning of this section
remains. Why?
The best answer we have is based on the microcosm, the macrocosm, and the Hundre
d Monkey Theory.
The Hundred Monkey Theory is a fascinating premise that originated on the Japane

se island of Koshima
in 1952. In a study performed on macaque monkeys, scientists worked with two set
s of monkeys on
separate islands. The monkeys were fond of sweet potatoes and ate them like mad.
The scientists
introduced bowls of salt water into their environment. At first, the monkeys ign
ored the salt water
because it was not pleasant to drink.
In one of the environments, the scientists showed a couple of the monkeys how to
wash their sweet
potatoes in the salt water for a different flavor. The monkeys repeated the beha
vior and other monkeys
caught on. The behavior spread. In the other environment where the monkeys were
not shown how to
wash their sweet potatoes, they continued to ignore the water.
According to the scientists, the hundredth monkey to wash his sweet potato in salt
water represented a
critical mass consciousness and the monkeys in the second environment (an island a
way, in fact) who
previously ignored the salt water spontaneously began washing their sweet potato
es in salt water.
The scientists speculated that the collective animal consciousness of the hundre
d monkeys caused the
remote monkeys to pick up on the brain waves and take action accordingly.
Like all good psychological theories, there were eventually those who denounced
the findings and
poked holes in the theories. We have studied psychology long enough to know that
any theory can be
discredited given the appropriate motivation and pre-existing bias. Much like re
ligion and politics, the
factions in psychology are hotly polarized to the point that immediate lack of c
redibility is presumed if a
study comes from an opposing faction. There are many examples in the animal king
dom of animals
seeming to read one another s minds from a distance and respond in tandem. There i
s also the very apt
musing of the Old Bard himself who said, There are more things in heaven and eart
h, Horatio, than
are dreamt of in your philosophy.
If we, as the individual microcosms of the human race, make a concerted effort t
o become more
enlightened, sacred people (note we did not say religious people) and as a result,
become happier,
kinder people, does that not then further the entirety of the human race toward
that critical mass
consciousness? If it does not and the whole thing is a myth, what have we lost i
f we, in fact, made
ourselves enormously happy?
Why does God want us to be happy? If we are happy, we are part of the tilting ba
lance that takes the
whole human race toward a more spiritual, loving, and sacred existence and away
from a critical mass
that is mired in fear and frustration. What we want, wants us. We just have to m
ake the inroads to
receive.
Many religions formed around the idea of exclusively receiving and the relations
hip between God/The
Universe and humans as a one-way street. Many sacred texts tell us that we must
act in accord and The
Lord helps those who help themselves. In Energy Magic, we contribute our own ener

gy to the process
of manifestation by harnessing the energy of our own free will and directing it
toward our goal in
tandem with the blessings from the Universe.
