A RESOLUTION STRONGLY SUPPORTING HOUSE BILL NO. 3451 AN ACT AMENDING

REPUBLIC ACT NO.7818 FOR PURPOSES OF STRENGTHENING THE ADMINISTRATIVE
SUPERVISION OF PALAWAN STATE UNIVERSITY (PSU), AND DEFINING THE INTEGRATION OF
PSU-LGU-CCRD (LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIT-COLLEGE OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES
DEVELOPMENT) WITH THE PSU MAIN CAMPUS IN PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, PROVINCE OF
PALAWAN

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 7818 was signed into law on November 12, 1994 Converting the
Palawan State College (PSC) into the Palawan State University (PSU), University to enjoy
appropriations in the National Budget;

WHEREAS, PSU Narra CCRD was established in 2002 upon the request of the Narranians that
quality tertiary education be made affordable and accessible to them;
WHEREAS, PSU Narra CCRD has made significant contributions to the progress of the
Municipality through the excellent development of its human resources, conduct of researches
relevant to community concerns and useful as bases of municipal policy decisions, and participation
and initiation in timely and beneficial extension activities in the most needy areas of the municipality;
WHEREAS, since its inception, the PSU Narra CCRD has grown in terms of enrollment from 356 when
it opened in 2002, to 1,941 in school year 2013-2014, and commensurately, its requirements as to
faculty, facilities, administration and financial support have increased;
WHEREAS, the LGU Narra, while still willing to continue its present support to PSU Narra CCRD,
recognizes that the colleges fast increasing requirement can best be answered using national, rather
than municipal, funding and support;
NOW THEREFORE on motion of Hon. Wenceslao F. Ignacio jointly seconded by Hon. Ceferino M.
Genovea and Hon. Amelis G. Gimpaya, be it;
RESOLVED as it is hereby resolved, to pass, A RESOLUTION STRONGLY SUPPORTING HOUSE
BILL NO. 3451 AN ACT AMENDING REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7818 FOR PURPOSES OF
