Is philosophy a science?

In this essay I will talk about: meaning of the words philosophy and science, what
are actually science and philosophy, the difference between wisdom and knowledge
, the history of both disciplines and how are they standing now , philosophy is the
mother of science , some of my theories about the relationship between science and
philosophy and conclusion
First lets see what do the words philosophy and science mean .The word
"philosophy" comes from the Greek (philosophia), which literally means
"love of wisdom. And the word science comes from the Latin "scientia," meaning
knowledge. First we can see that they have a totally different meaning, but do they?
Science can be described as a discipline which is trying to understand the way the world

works, its mechanics and laws. Philosophia is a discipline that consists of ways the
world is seen and understanding which law is the ultimate law (also sometimes
writing them). But we can say that science and philosophy are very similar because
both of them are trying to find out how the universe functions, but in two very
different ways or not so very different (it depends on your perspective). So let us
firstly see the difference between wisdom and knowledge. Knowledge can be said
to be a law or laws of how the world works. On the other hand wisdom is a way you
use your knowledge and how to make a difference between good and evil. So to me
wisdom is above knowledge, and one to be a happy individual he must acquire
wisdom. Enough with that let us see how the histories of philosophia and history
have developed over the centuries. The history of philosophy starts about two
thousand years ago and throughout its history it was focused on the principal of
Arche and also on metaphysical , ethical, esthetical , political but back in the lets
call it the ,,golden,, age ( the time of Aristotle, Plato to the time of Nietzsche and
Wittgenstein ) the main focus was on the metaphysical and ethical and now
philosophy is just a shadow comparing to what it was back then In the day
.However the history of science begins when philosophy was already a mature
discipline. And from the beginning it wanted to understand the laws that make our
world work. And today philosophy is focused on the ethical and esthetical and
science has is some way assumed the metaphysical part of philosophy (mostly the
principle of Arche or what was at the beginning of time). And my personal opinion
is that without philosophy science would not exist as a discipline because
philosophy started the question which we all know and that is: ,, What was
first? ,, .And also the fact that the empiricist movement helped science develop a
lot in the time it was at the start of its life , so to speak you can say that
philosophy is the mother of science. Finally there is the fact, by my personal
observation, people are always in one way or the other using philosophy, when they
are deeply thinking or just thinking what is the world really made off, and on the
other hand science has a far more limited span.

So my conclusion is that you can say that philosophy is a science but only
theoretically because the more correct answer would be that philosophy is the first
science or the mother and reason why we have science today. Also a have another
theory and it is that science is in some way a sub branch of philosophy. And at the
end I only wanted to say that I am honored for being a part of this competition
