Welcome to Tornado Nation!

I join the students, faculty, and staff in welcoming you to Hickory High
Schools athletic events this year.
We hope you enjoy your experience tonight with our Hickory High Red
Tornado football team led by head coach Allen Wittenberg and his fine
staff.
I know you will appreciate the spirited performance from our marching
band, led by Bobby Cotter, and our outstanding cheerleaders led by
coach Lisa Evans.
Hickory High offers a comprehensive high school experience, with both
AP and IB program options, for the students in the community, and
our athletic program has a long history of distinction. With 20 varsity
teams, we are proud of our student athletes and the entire coaching
staff for their efforts to excel each and every year.
We celebrated the Wells Fargo Conference Cup this spring for the 201516 Northwestern 3A-4A conference for overall athletic excellence. We
anticipate several of our teams will continue to excel at the state level,
and we aim to repeat as the overall Northwestern conference leader.
Beyond the celebrations of winning on the field or court, Hickory High
athletes share their gifts as citizens in their community by raising
awareness for special causes, volunteering and serving as role models
in their classrooms.

Our school is dedicated to providing a broad range of activities that will

develop our youth to be outstanding members of our community. Many
of our athletes also are outstanding scholars who make many sacrifices
in order to achieve their goals. I applaud all of our athletes, coaches,
and parents for the role they play in building Tornado pride.
I am excited to announce that Hickory High Schools Athletic Booster
Club will fund the building of a new facility, between the soccer and
softball fields, that will dramatically enhance our athletic complex.
Soon, we will have a brand new press box complete with concession
stand amenities and an observation deck to better serve our families
and visitors.
Thank you to everyone in the Hickory community who contributed to
this very successful campaign! Thanks for coming out to show your
Red Tornado pride!

Go Big Red!

Red Tornadoes
Welcome to tonights game. We
appreciate you being here to support our
student-athletes and the fine coaches that
lead them.
Our athletes and coaches have put in a
tremendous amount of time and effort to
be able to compete tonight at a very high
level through many hours of training.
We look to continue a very proud tradition
of academic and athletic excellence at
Hickory High School this year.
We are very excited and honored to
recognize two former teams that reached
excellence. We will welcome the 1966
undefeated team led by the late coach
Frank Barger for their 50th reunion on
Sept. 9, and we also celebrate the 1996
3-A State Champion and 16-0 team
led by coach David Elder for their 20th
reunion on Oct. 14.
We also would like to thank all the
parents, administration, school board,
faculty, community supporters, and our
outstanding Booster Club for all their time
and effort to make sure our athletes have
a great experience.
We could not have a successful team
without everyones outstanding support.
We are very grateful. We hope to see you
at every game this year.
