Won't Be Forgotten
Many would say that Battle of 1836 was insignificant, but it was an important moment in
history, and shouldn't be buried. Battle of 1836 also called Battle of the Alamo was caused by
Mexico leader Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna wanting to take over Alamo Mission, but the
American leaders William Travis and James Bowie did not want to give it up, and so the
Americans defended themselves within mission for twelve days. The American troops lost, and
were slain. Battle of 1836 was unnecessary; thus, it is not worth the problem.
First, of many the drawbacks of war is that many inhabitants of participating countries
die. When you initiate a war it is usually between two forces fighting each other with tangible
items that are made for killing, and the result of these fight are that there will be casualties.
Santa Anna had ordered that no prisoners be taken, and virtually all the defenders were slain
Encyclopedia. And so one of many problem of the Battle of 1836 is that both side suffered a lot
of casualties.
Not only does the war affect the countries, but a lot of bloodshed and casualties were
brought upon both forces, and because of that caused an uproar between the two countries. We
may think that Battle of the Alamo was just a skirmish between two equal size forces, but it
wasn't the Mexican force having an estimated around eighteen hundred to six thousand men
meanwhile on the other hand the Texan forces has roughly two hundred men, so it's pretty much

a one sided fight. a Mexican army, variously estimated at 1,800 to 6,000 men Encyclopedia.
The small defending force was supplemented ... to roughly 200 men. Encyclopedia. Therefore,
the brutal Mexican army overrun the Texan forces and were killed though they could have
retreated back, and let the Mexican force take the mission. A man that runs away may fight
again. Demosthenes 382 BC. According to this philosophy it is better to just give up a fight and
run away, and rally up and fight another day because you can't fight if you're dead.
Although, the Texan defenders experienced loss at the Alamo was a sign of retaliation
against the Mexican forces. Months after the Battle of the Alamo troops were sent from Houston
to fight Gen. Santa Anna at San Jacinto River. And well the Mexican army lost. when Houston
and a force of some 800 men routed 1,500 Mexicans under Santa Anna at San Jacinto
Encyclopedia. Never mess with Houston or it will bite you back. Even when the Battle of the
Alamo was lost their spirit was still aflame, and had inspired many across the United States.
In conclusion, both sides the Texan and the Mexican forces loss a vast amount of soldiers.
War is an unnecessary idea to begin with the end result of it is more negative than positive. Like
you may be at peace for a while until the losing side wants revenge. All in all it is better to solve
things politically than with human resources, and let their life go to waste.
