The Class
In Grade 8, students study the history of the United States from the early colonial period through
Reconstruction. Students will evaluate how economic, social, and political characteristics shaped key
events in our nations history.

Course Expectations
I would like to welcome you and your child to OUR history class. I look forward to working with you and
leading both you and your child through a successful year of fun and learning. I dedicate myself to the
academic achievement of all my students. Therefore, I have placed high expectations for your child and
expect 100% Success and Nothing Less from them every day.
To acquire this knowledge and develop these understandings, students will read and write every week.
Students are expected to complete all assignments, homework, quizzes, exams, and projects. Students
grade in this course will depend not only on submitted assignments, but also on steadfast attendance and
active participation in all classroom activities. In addition, mastery of U.S. History concepts will be assessed
through a series of unit exams throughout the school year.
