Missing Assignments
Any homework or assignment that is not completed on time is considered a
violation. An unsigned agenda also earns a violation.
OOPS! Coupons
Students will be given an OOPS! Coupon at the beginning of each quarter. This
coupon may be given to the teacher to avoid receiving a violation. Students are
responsible for their coupon, and no replacements will be given. Coupons may not be
used to avoid consequences for misbehavior.

If a student does not seem to be responding to PBIS and has received 10 violations in a
quarter other interventions will be assigned by the teacher. Interventions may include a
visit to the principal, a half or full day in ALC (Alternative Learning Center), loss of field
trips, or an alternative behavior plan or placement.
Rewards
Good News Parties- The teachers plan the events each quarter. Students must
have less than 9 violations to attend. The Good News Party is a privilege for those
students who have met the expectations during the quarter. Students with 9 or more
violations will remain in a classroom.
Star Student Awards- Students may be recognized by teachers, supervisors, etc.
with a Star Student Award! Students sign the Star Student Book and pick a prize! This
will qualify them for the drawing that takes place during the next Character Education
assembly.
Fun Friday Recess- Students may earn extra recess time from 2:30-2:55 on
Friday afternoon. Students are eligible if they have not received their 3rd, 6th , or 9th
violation during that week.
Other rewards may be implemented by each classroom teacher.
AUTOMATIC EXCLUSIONS from the Good News Party
A lunch detention for behavior, bus problem, playground fight, suspension from
school, or time spent in ALC automatically excludes a student from participation in the
next Good News Party. The teachers reserve the right to make adjustments to the plan as
necessary to insure success in meeting the goals of the PBIS program.
Close cooperation between school and home benefits students in a positive way.
Whitesides Character Education program and PBIS helps encourage our students to
exhibit common courtesy, manners, respect for others, self-discipline, responsibility, and
accountability.
